C Service Runabout Alexandria 1976. This will take several groups of 5 to complete, so be patient. I forget how many were involved--enough to have an annual reunion. The Brinkman's can fill us in on the names. Pickup boats probably had to do several helment counts to make sure the number of boats and bobbing drivers matched.

Action continues as some drivers get through.

Looks like Pete H. won that race with his head, not the throttle.

Looks like it except that it was probably black flagged. I think the rule was already in that whoever stopped a race would be ineligible for the restart. Anybody remember the outcome? Any way here goes some more.

Finally the end. The last two color shots show the start and the happy conclusion in which no one was hurt. The first color shot is for the chess or wargame afficianados. Look at their position at the start and where they manueuvered to and ended up. The detectives can figure out who all the culprits were in the second photo.

O.K. Wayne here is what happened.

Boats at the start
V-99 Todd Brinkman
V-87 Bob Rake
L-16 ? Reed - Lyndol's brother
Blue KR - Lyndol Reed
Y-2 Stan Leavendusky
92-T Bobby Bolton
N-22 Pete Hellsten
V-88 Todd Brinkman Sr.
Red boat - Tom or Jeff Goslee
L-113 Steve Ketzer ?

Lyndol had a brand new DeSiva KR runabout and beat me to the corner by about a half a boat length. I was on his inside headed for the second pin when Lyndol started to spin out and I went right over the top of his motor. After that everybody else piled in.

Pete Hellsten was the eventual winner.

David, I think Dan Kirts crashed in 500 hydro, but I don't remember 3 or 4 boats involved.

David, I went back and looked at my contact sheets and I have a boatload of wrecks from that race. It appears that 3 boats were involved in a crash in the first turn. It is C service hydro. One of the drivers was a rookie. Looks like Mickey McGuire involved, & don't know about the third. Poor quality pictures. Don't know if I could make them presentable with the computer. I have some halfway decent ones of Ralph Donald taking a dive in 350 runabout. And another runabout crash. May be of Bruce Nicholson.

Have to think about that a little bit. Wish we could get the Kirts' and Charlie Bailey on board to help us remember.

You might be right about 79 David. Looks like 500 hydro. 7 or 12 frames are mostly water and it's hard to tell. Think maybe two boats.

Hi, I'm the little sister of Lyndol in the KR runabout, and James in L-16. Daddy has been gone a few years now. He was James L. Reid, Sr. Don't know if you remember when he used to race so many years ago. I'd like to have a picture of him. Just wanted to let you know that this is their names and the spelling. This is one race I missed and am really glad after seeing the flip Lyndol did in Eldorado in 73. Blessings, Kat
