Pro Comp was blended into the Pro Stocks of today. I think the rules remained the same, but could have been a copyright thing with another sanctioning body.......MP
PS: Posted over at HB, the old PC class was "unlimited" cu in. The PS class allows 500 Max.........

Back in the mid '80s Pro Comp was to replace SK and the rules, as they were written at the time, allowed a gas burning single, natural, Big Block with little restrictions. I was at the St. Pete race speaking with Carl Gardella who built engines for Jack Kiley, when he said that a 500ci class was just what we needed. I told Carl to read the rules again, there is no limit on cid in this new class. Sure enough, in October '86 Jack Kiley showed up in St. Pete and had Bob Goettel driving Sweet Caroline with a new setup, a 605ci BIG Block. I finished a little over a half a lap back (2nd place) Duff Daily, who was right up there, broke on the last lap. I don't remember anyone else in the race, but it was very obvious to everyone with a flat that a tunnel ram on a Super Stock was not going to be competitive. I think that was the last year for Pro Comp. Pro Stock soon replaced it with the only major changes to the rules was the stipulation that the engine could not exceed 500ci.
Pro Comp's were natural, injected, unlimited displacement, gas burning bad *** Flatbottoms.
Super Stocks are carburated, limited mods, about 435 inch, gas burning bad *** Flatbottoms.
