The Ramos/Rankin pit told me because they went 81.3 in the second heat of Nostalgia Endurance, they were DQ'd... (Speed limit is 80.9 mph)...That much I understand...but they said they were also DQ'd for the rest of the weekend....

Is that true? Seems harsh.....for speeding....seems it may hurt they overall races..

Dave was not dq'ed for the weekend. He did not register for the sunday nastalgia program. If he had, he would have been more than welcome to race. When a participant exceeds 80.9 miles per hour and up to 85 mph. they are penalized one lap. Anything above 85 mph. they are dq for the weekend. A second violation above 85 mph and they are invited to race a different class. Jim Best

If you speed you are DQ's or penalized one lap??

I think Dave and Rudy want to sell the boat they ran in Nostalgia....and didn't plan to run it...I was trying to get Rudy to let me drive....That might have been why they said they were DQ'd for the weekend...

Great racing...really enjoyed the Nostalgia CONCEPT.....and RACING!!!!

I'm thining Kneeldowners should have a NOSTALGIA CLASS with a Speedlimit of 45!!!!!

Screwing with my GPS right now!!!!! (Trying to figure out how to make it work)...

Ron, in answer to your question, "If you speed are you penalized or DQ'd?" The answer is, either is possible, let me explain. Our speed limit is 80mph. If your gps reads 80.9, your are still considered legal, at 81mph to 84.9mph your are penalized 1 lap:( , at 85mph or above your DQ'd for remainder of the weekend, no refund, and asked to please find a faster class to race in next time! Rankin's speed was in the second heat was 81.3, so they were penealized 1 lap for that heat, why they didn't race on Sunday I am not sure, but it was not because of being DQ'd. The reason we set the 85mph plus DQ rule is to hender anyone using the class just for boat set-up for a faster class, cheap seat/water/test time so to speak. In the past, if you broke the speed limit you were DQ'd only for that heat, this meant drivers could use the class as a test for a faster class, and didn't care how they placed in the race itself.:p This not only caused a safety hazard, boats racing in class doing 75mph (the speed limit at the time), and other boats doing 90+ mph, but from a spectator point of view, it was not a good show. :D I think you witnessed your self this weekend, especially in Nostalgia Flat, that we have got some very close exciting racing going on now.

I joined as a Full MEMBER of APBA as a Racing Mamber, but under OPC...My boat is a MOD VP. This is no longer an APBA CLASS...Can I run Nostalgia with an OPC Memebership or??

I would consider running at Parker, Thanksgiving..

If you show up at Parker, with your "race face" on, someone will find a place/class to put you in competition........Ray
