Don Douglas owned and drove the boat, he ran here in region 10 in the early 70's The boat was rigged from a bare hull, buy my dad, I remembering sanding for hours on the bottom of that boat. The engine was a destroked L-88, 427 down to 399ci, it was pretty trick for it's day.
The boat ran over the world record a couple of times in Dayton,OH but Don could not back it up.
This is one of the only boats my dad built, that we don't have any pictures of.
This boat crashed in Portland, and sunk, later that year. it took 2 days to find it and get it up, the boat was destroyed, but we had another boat here ready to run, It was our Ski boat for the year. we rolled it over and did the bottom, and he only missed a couple of weeks of racing.
I was 13 at the time, it was good times!
