I running a 225 looper on a 17 action wuth a 28 raker. Still learning to drive it. Best so far has been 81 mph. I was wondering what prop I should be running?? also I'd like to know the differences between choppers and srx?? Thanks

I'm not familiar with the SRX, but I did run a 28" Chopper that was DAH reworked , it had the dog ears that stuck below and into the exhaust housing shaved flat and the blades were thinned.

We resplined it to fit a 99.6 140HP Johnson coupled to a 17' Switzer
Super Sport. The boat had a 155XS Merc on it when I bought it, and ran 70 with a 26" elephant ear offshore prop. The 140 with the Merc prop hit 71, (As per Island Lake Illinios police radar on the 176 Bridge) largely because the boat was given the bow lift necessary to hang on about 4" of the middle. If you want to make a box stock Johnson run, a necessity is a Merc prop (did I really say that???)
After I opened the air box and vented the hood, I was able to get another 500 RPM from 5700 to 6200, but never retimed the speed before I sold the boat. If you need bow lift I swear by the chopper and what it did for that combination.

It does feel like it's running "flat", not really "flying". I have no airbox and made a little vent on top too. If I can run 80 "flat" how much will I gain with a chopper????

Freek:

The only way to find that out is try one. I'll say this, when I rebroached the elephant ear prop, as soon as I had the chopper reworked, the difference was nigt and day. Ever see a V blow over backwards? In the right wind I found myself hitting the trim button real fast, came up and did a transom stand once then flopped sideways and broke the seat mount from the floor.

She's done...and if I can stay focused, I'll ship her tomorrow...

Now, you realize that the claimer price in California "C", for a prop is $500???

I've been off my game all week with this OREGON TRIP...

What boat and engine are you a putting together???

You know I have tons of Evinrude and Johnson stuff...

Is this for a California "C'???

The prop went ground to NAPA via Alaska...Not really...Just regular ground...UPS...

I bought that DAGO boat from the dago in isleton. a couple months ago . I don't have a suitable moda for the fat c , so until i do, i gonna try my omc short shaft
hustler 1975-75 horse 3 cylinder evinrude . i'm sure it'll be hairy , so i'll hafta take it easy . it is the first one that Paul Bender raced in 1975( in old sport e ) , i think at first it was on an old shulze tunnel that was very succesful , for a long while. how about me hold it to 65 mph , and run with the "fattest C's ?"
