Darrell Beaulier and I are in the process of restoring a 1970 Glastron Carlson CT-15 tunnel. Boat needs a little work but is solid. The plan is to put an OMC V4 on it. Still trying to convince Darrrell the Evinride was faster!

We are looking for a set of race cowlings or the old mold so we can make a set. Anyone got any ideas or leads??

Jim,
Is the CT15 the one with the backward scoops behind the cockpit?
Isn't that boat basically a production pleasure tunnel that could be made into a racer by adding the one piece deck/cowl?
I'd like to see pictures of the project. I have a similar project going.
Are you going to use a KC13R or an X115?

Isn't that boat basically a production pleasure tunnel that could be made into a racer by adding the one piece deck/cowl? Sort of yes and sort of no. The 14 and 16 foot Carlsons were semi tunnel hulls, flat at the back. The 15 was a full tunnel hull and very few pleasure full tunnel 15's were made; full tunnel 15's were not in the Carlson catalog along side their 14 and 16 foot pleasure sisters

Our boat is the 15' tunnel and at one time it had the race cowling. Not sure what we will put on it yet. If we can find enough parts to build a KR15 that is what it will get otherwise we will build the transom up and use a fishing motor with nosecone gearcase. I had a fishing V4 with nosecone on my old Invader Tunnel and it would indicate 85mph on a Keller. I can remember someone in Illinois having a red CT-15 which ran well.

Still looking for the deck/cowling.

What do you need? I have some KR15M parts. And some KC13R parts.

The CT15 was a full tunnel race boat. It was in a Glastron catalog as I have seen there in a catalog I had. There was one racing here in region 4 in 1970 with a 135 Mercury stacker, also there was one racing that came from up north of Virginia, as I raced against him at Piney Point, Md.

I have one of the Carlson "semi" tunnels that Mark 75H refers to. I currently have a v-4 140 hp Johnrude on it. I expected the boat to exhibit blow-over characteristicsbut the bow does not want to lift even as I trim the engine out. I also worry about the bottom blowing out as it has no stringers or runners and there seems to be a lot of "movement" when running at "high speed" (about 60mph). I have thought of building a center deck and moving the steering station back to get the bow to lift better. At this point I would love to sell the rig as I have too many boats. Capnzee:)

Ray, I was refering to the pleasure version of the 15. I haven't come across a Carlson catalog with the pleasure version of the 15 in it; most of them DO have the racing 15.

Did they all have the rods thru the splashwell bolted to the tunnel like mine?

How many cubic inches is the 140? If it is a 99, I might be intersted in it. I'm thinking it may be a great motor to bolt soem stacks on and drvie all the fishman nuts on Lake Hodges..... Where is it located? Any pictures?
