I had SO MUCH FUN yesterday, I can't wait until October 9, 2006 to go to Puddingstone, in Pomoma, California...
Pat Bowman, Parker 300 driver and Chad Hill's Crew Chief works in San Diego, but live in Orange County... I asked Pat, tongue in cheek, if he'd like to go to the Antique Boat Show??? (I didn't really say outboard and Fiberglastics).... Somehow, pat found it in he=is heart to say, call him Saturday morning and he'd go...
I figured, by Saturdfay morning he wouldn't pick up his phone...Well, I was wrong, again about Pat..He's a man of his word...
We headed for San Diego, stopping in San Clementa for his usually at the Do-Nut shop...Ham, egg and cheese corsaunt....Pat really looks more of a Do-nut man...He did admit he didn't get home til 3:45 A.M. and I figured he'd sleep on the grass all day...
As it turned out, I think pat had a great time, (He really loves my stories)...He kept asking where the Classic Chris Crafts were, I told him this was an OUTBOARD MEET... Big Bear would have both...
Bottom Line for pat and me, was we won two door prizes, met some great people and saw some cool stuff...
I did BRING BRATS, but I convinced Bill Schwab, a former mid westerner, that I, Ron Hill, didn't REALLY know how to cook BRATS....but I was good about drinking beer that was for the brats to be soaked in...
Here are a few pictures....
I totlly I lost my short memory recall, but would like to thank Brab Fackiner, Brad Menet's lady friend, for making everyone sign in with their e-mails or address, she also organized the FOOD, and sold raffle tickets...AND mead me a name tag....

My ONLY brother was there, and he enjoyed the hell out of himslef...He has realized that sitting and talking boat racing and outboard motors is something he is STILL GOOD AT...
Not sure what was in BRAD's red cup, but I know what was in my RED CUP...George and taking notes for the CLUB PAPEr, NOW THAT HE HAS A CHIEF EDITOR, HIS job IS GOING TO BE A "piece of cake"...
Second picture is Dafe Mayer's SIX carb, 500 CC Yamato....Dave would not let me show his gearcase, several thought this "SUCKER" was a JET DRIVE....
THIRD PICTURE IS KYLE MCGUY FROM NEWPORT BEACH, DOWN FOR THE WEEKEND OF SKIING with the whole family...(WATER POLO PLAYER AT NEWPORT HARBOR)...Great to see the five of you....all....
Fourth, pictures scenes from the MEET...
Fifth picture, Mrs. Bill Schwab, President of............(They left our meet to go to a wine tasting thing.....charty that her club promotoed).. and Miss Schwab, who might race "A" Stock Hydro soon...(I already called Ernie Dawe)...
Sixth picture, tall, handsome dude, my brother, telling Bill Schwab how to cook the BRATS....of course, Russ ain't never cooked a brat in his life...
Third picture just scenes for the MEET...

If you can't tell by now, I'll say it again....I just had a GREAT TIME...
Pat's (NOT PAT BOWMAN) teal green and white, Evinrude powered...SeaStar (Not sure that is the boat brand)....was really cool...Hope Pat will add things like her last name and details about the boat...
The Yamato AD, is from the 1977 Bakersfield nationals program, that is a four carb YUamato, like Dave had, Dave made his into a six carb...

Ron:
I guess you found it! I found it in 1998 and had a BALL! It was up at Tomahawk Wi. We were coming back from our summer up north and Rod Terzinski told us about the antique meet. We stayed for the weekend and saw outboards I had only seen in pictures. I even took a ride in a E Mod runabout and got hooked again. All I was going to do was play with some antique outboards and restore some boats and motors. Then I went and bought a racing rig and here I am racing again. This year I bought a new VRP 250 and Denny Henderson's Hydro and put the fun back in my race program.
Tell Jimbo and Kathy Hi and we'll see you at De Pue next year.

Have fun You guys - looks like the meet will be a good time. I recognize Jill (yellow shirt) with her Lake N' Sea - I call her motor "old Salty" .... Jill is a great person. RON, I am picking up an all original 1959 AranaCraft this weekend. It has the Y block 312 intercrptor with a V drive. What a beauty. I just got through hosting the 3rd annual "Whiskey Run" up here in Redding. Whiskeytown Lake is just over the hill form Lake Shasta -

I apologise Cathy. Ron, it must be that CRS that some of you seniors have. I used to have work clothes with my name on them so I'd know who I was.
The 4-60----Finished it and ran it at De Pue [testing only]. Dwight Malhoit taught me all about the ignition. I've been on electronic ignition for so long I did'nt know what points and condensers were, but he got me straightened out. It fired up and ran pretty good. I ran a few laps and then took Kurt Helsten for a ride. Joe Prebe [On Site Photo Service] got some pics and I'll try to get some and post them[with help].
Weekend after De Pue we went up to Tomahawk Wi. for the antique otbd meet. I promised to take the wife for a ride. I tested on Thur. and the boat ran fine. I ran a smaller prop. than I ran at De Pue but it was fine with just me in the boat. Come Friday we get all set and take off but the boat won't get on plane. I don't have a pump in the lower unit and we overheated and stuck it a little. Thats like a little pregnant! We tried a couple more times and then called it off. No compression on no. 1.
Thanks to the crew that helped on that NOBLE effort and we'll do it again next year!

Hey Ron,
Keep your eye out for John Beck (Former Mod-C/SST-45 driver). Last time I talked to him he was running Dwarf Cars there. Tell him "hi" if you see him.

After working the jobs of two people this week, finally got a chance to respond. As for San Diego next year, I will be cooking one of my world famous internationally renowned 200 lb pigs. Some natives tell me no one cooks pigs in California, well, I ain't from California, I simply live here! If that in itself does not draw nation wide interst, I'm not sure what will.....
Fas as the Patti at the show, it was my wife and daughter was Katie. You can just call her the next A class world champ and she'll be right at home!
It was a very fun event, looking forward to next month and the wish boats (since the thunder left years ago) and Katie wants to drive Ron! Ya don't know what ya got yerself into! LOL
I see that Bruce G. has already beat me to this as I was waiting to be authorized to post, but thought I would chime in with the year of her Lake and Sea!
Jill is the best! The numbers of "Lady Glassheads" has been growing over the years.
I even spotted Shannon of SoCal Glassics in one of those pictures. Jeez, Shannon ya cut your hair again. Did the Navy get after ya? LOL!
Sure glad that through the efforts of Brad, Barbara (nice to see your smiling face in the pictures too!) Shannon and his wife Sandi working together to get some Glassics out for a day of Glassics with the Outboards!
And just for the record.......the "Whiskey Run" organized by Bruce up in Redding, CA was awesome! I attended for the third year and plan for my fourth with my boys in 2007!!!!
Here is a photo of Jill and her Lake n Sea at the Regionals in July at Lake San Antonio out side of Paso Robles.
Second Photo is of me and Bruce when he presented all on Saturday evening with a commemorative "Whiskey Jug" at the "Whiskey Run"
