Do you think Bravo Sterndrive gears are the same material as say Mark 55-H??? Would anyone know what material 55-H gears are made from???

Fred as in Hauenstein.....? I know Freddy would know..but I wouldn't ask...probably some corporate secret.... Besides, you want him to be able to hold that above my head, too???
Thanks, Sam...

All made of steel. No peanut butter.

If I decided to make gears out of peanut butter..would you suggest crunchy or smooth!!!

As in: "This gear case turns over as smooth as ....." ;)
Eat the crunchy, it tastes better! :p
I'll do a little research on the steel specs this week.

Here in UK Ron they would probably made from EN8 but I don't know if you'd call it that in the US.
This would only apply if the crown wheel is splined or pinned onto the prop shaft which I assume is one of the stainless ones.
EN8 is a heat treatable steel which would require grinding after heat treatment to remove any distortion.
Do you still have that small R/H prop?
Can you come back to me with all the details?
