Ross:
The 22 is Friday and 23 is a Saturday. No race on Suday? I am in a wedding on that Saturday. Is this is a WFL race? Also, what time would racing start on Sunday? I may be able to drive out Sunday AM to run the final.

Just a note that this date is Region Kilo's at Oroville Calif. it is unforunate that Region 12 and Ross do not want to coordinate races dates. Those racers that put the WFL series before their local races will soon find no local races for their class.

Seems Ross has "PICKED UP" Bakersfield in March because the $10,000 "NUT" to put this race on was too "BIG A NUT" for SCOA...(and the reason Roos could pick it up is that his other races make money.....)...
Parker is a great Race Site, with a GREAT CASINO and an annual sponsorship....Seems to me, that changing the KILOS would be easier, than expecting the Blue Water CASINO to change their ever busier schedule...Parker has motorcycle races, offroad races, ski races, and circle boat that I know of...plus regular boats in April....
Seems to me, CHANGE THE KILOS, talk to ROSS about making Oroville a Series race...
Talking "LAST MINUTE"..thos guys from lake Cumberland "RENT" the timing equipment for February 11th???

Ron, there is no way Oroville kilo's can, will ever be a series race. Kilos are Kilos. There is no series races about kilos. You know about this kind of events.

But this is January, the Kilos are in April.....there is time to change the Kilo's schedule...you guys have a Marathon Planned, why not a SERIES Race?? They run two 15 lapper and a30 lap main...doesn't take all day, unless they race at Long Beach with salt water.....
I just felt, Ross can't change his date.....either the kilos run with or without a conflict...I don't like conflict.....

Bill and all:
SCSC originally had the April date scheduled for April 2 & 3, 2005, however, the Bluewater and myself had several "rounds" of negotiation and during the last "round" several points were agreed to. Unfortunately, one point that the resort changed in the contract but I failed to pick up was the date change. It seems I got so wrapped up in the "bullet points" that were on the table I neglected to see the date change so my fault and I accept the responsibility. When I contacted the resort to see if we could go back to the original date (4/2-3/05) they had already scheduled a concert and booked another group thus the scheduling conflict that I eluded to in my original posting. When I found this out I immediately contacted the Coast Guard then went to all the websites and private mailed all the series/group reps to disseminate the information quickly. I got an email from Terri Z and one from her husband Joe J. alerting me to the overlap schedule and apologized as I will to you as it wasn't done intentionally. Flame me if you must but April is an invitational event that shouldn't dramatically impact the Oroville Kilo's - the SST-45's and Crackers are the only two classes that Oroville might see some impact. Those 45's in R11 that aren't WFLS racers (and there are several) will most likely still go to Oroville and those WFLS racers that are racing towards a 2005 Series Championship will come to Parker. The Crackerbox Series will likely have the same issue. I am sorry for the inconvenience and will be more attentive to detail.
As to your posting regarding support of local clubs vs. the "series" races I take exception as this "sky is falling" mentality has been proven false. For several years since I formed the WFLS I heard from people in R12 and R11, especially in the Stock Outboard ranks that "Series" racing kills local racing. Well, if that were true then the numbers of 45's, Crackers, Pro-Stocks, GN's, Super Stocks should have decreased. In fact the opposite has occured, more 45's, Crackers, Pro-Stocks, and soon GN's than in the past 20 years CONSISTENTLY showing up at races. I for one am very proud to have helped bring about this change, if it wasn't for the WFLS, Cracker Box Series, GNRA, SSRA and now the WPRA those classes might have gone by the way of the dodo! Clearly this thing called promotion works and the spirit of competition fostered by racing against more than just the same 3-5 people brings out the competitive nature in people and makes them want to join the fun and race. Numbers in R12 have gone up 35% over the past 4 years and it looks to continue to grow. Now I know that threatens some people that the Status Quo is changing but correct me if I am wrong haven't all clubs- R11 and R12 experienced higher attendence since the Series racing started? If I am wrong then please cite actual facts not "the sky is falling" propaganda! I have always maintained that racers should go to local races and "Event" style races - local races to "hone" their talent, get seat time and race for APBA National points. Going to "Event" style races just give boat racers exposure in front of SPECTATORS, SPONSORS, etc. which in turn brings more people into the sport. You see the "bottom up" philosophy of promotion- go to "grass roots races to bring in new blood" doesn't work, you need big races like San Diego, Parker, Laughlin, Burley, Long Beach where crowds of spectators gather to watch the "SHOW" that is where new "blood" comes from! Don't get me wrong, I believe in Local races that is why I agreed to take over and put on Bakersfield Stock/Mod Divisionals because I don't want to see the "grass roots" racers hurt in anyway shape or form also I think helping out our sister club is good business for everyone! All SCSC needs is to breakeven at Bakersfield and that is what we are looking to do!
Anyway, Bill I look forward to discussing this and other important ideas with you and everyone at Atlanta!
See you there!
Ross

We are still in Atlanta. Ice storm and being retired airline employees we fly stand by. soooo we decided to cocoon here at the hotel rather than spending the day/night at the Atlanta airport (ATL)gate area.
Anyway Ron, We we not change the kilo's as we have to deal with the permit process and publish the AD in the APBA Propeller two months in advance. Already in progress. Ross and I had a good conversation and shook hands and understood each other. End of story.
