I thought you meant maybe these ones. 0.21 to 0.46 they go up to 1.3 ci these days
little ones spin past 25000 R's Big one a bit less. Need a boat on each foot though.

was thinkin inboard:cool:
Way back when(1962)I lived in Seatle on Beacon Hill.About 2 miles down the street lived a guy named Dixon Smith(ring any bells)Dax ran tether boats at the time at Green Lake.I was fascinated by the things he would do in his basement. The best was a Mac .60 with a tiny centrifugal blower on the back and a point ign. with a hand made coil.According to his friction "dyno".it made an incredible 5+ hp at 20,000.The first time he ran it,it twisted the 1/4" prop shaft like a pretzel.I wish I had a picture of it,it was the cutest thing.

Gee whiz Fred, that was 45 years ago and now my memory is about as long as my.........(fill in the blank with whatever you think is appropiate).
As I recall,it amounted to a piece of 3/4" plywood with the "right" size hole to go over the flywheel, split on one side with a thumb screw so you could "squeeze" it to apply the friction to the flywheel.12" from the center of the hole to the spring fish scale used to get a torque reading.A tachometer reading+the torque reading and a little math=HP.
It sounds really crude, but for an 18 year old student,it was pretty amazing(to me anyway,I was 17).
I think you could do better with a power steering pump to put a load on the motor. You could put a gate valve on the output hose to vary the load.If I were "really"smart,I could tell you(from the psi read)how much torque it had.
BUT..... Relatively speaking, the more psi it will make at a given RPM,the more HP at that RPM.You set it up so the pump "floats" on the same center as the crankshaft and use a scale to get a torque read.
You can use anything, actually, that will vary the load, any sort of "pump".(a fan or blower even).
Crude but effective as a "relative"gauge of power at rpm.
Any questions?(and please something that doesn't involve having to "remember" something from more than a week ago.LOL)

[QUOTE=will350]You set it up so the pump "floats" on the same center as the crankshaft and use a scale to get a torque read.
I meant to say "you could set it up so the pump floats....." but that's "extra" work.As a relative measuring device,PSI will work just fine.

Stuboat97, what is that Evinrude? That's cool! An 11.5 with a special lowerunit and cowl?
Some day I'd like to get my hands on one of the old model outboards that looked like real motors and put it on a model of my A Stock Hydro pushboat.

The "Evinrude" is a 7.5 K&B. That is an International Hobbies AMPS motor. It has geared lower and was the latest version in a series of Model Motors and boats produced in the '80s. They show up on eBay from time to time. I have some Literature I'll find and scan it for posting.
The one posted here now is 11cc (.67) was for sale on eBay some time ago.
Would make a great 44XS scale project that could be made to run RC.

Here's one that I've went through.
Ceramic hybrid bearings with stainless steel races and phenolic retainers, RPM rod and carburetor, CB Marine exhaust cooler, wax coated screws, polished head and water jacket, smoothed the cases, lapped disk housing and rotor.

Here's one of my favorites.
I've reworked two different carbs for it, one is a standard TNII carb, the other is the Dynamix pumper carb.

Anyone ever use the Edmonds airplane motors in a boat? I had the privilege of meeting Mr Edmonds in his shop a couple times.

Sorry fast fred, I can't, actually refuse, to read you illiterate posts. However, I have some motors based on zenoah "weed eater" engines! I have two billet "Quickdraw" engines and another zenoah with an external reed block. These are 26 cc, 87 octane pump gasoline burners pulling 10 or more horsepower!! pictures to follow!!
