I am new here "green",so take it easy on me!
i am trying to put together a mercurymk55h
looking for a kg-9 exhaust housing
this is what i was told some racers are using for it has smooth lines less "drag"
this is to be used for general fun times use,not racing use.

The bolt pattern and general pattern of the KF-9, KG-9, Mark 40, Mark 40H and Mark 50 exhaust are the same and will not fit a Mercury 55H without some serious cutting and pasting. There is no direct fit, so who ever told you to get that for your 55H is incorrect unless your advisers were into thinking that you are into cutting and pasting????? Otherwise keep an eye out for on various sites or advertise or buy when on auction on Ebay for a early Quincy or Hubbell 4 tube/meg exhaust system and for later model there is Quincy, Bayer and others that have a direct bolt pattern fit for your engine at use elbos that are 2 into one with bells. Some are aluminum systems, some are all steel and some are combos of both. There is also the matter the filler block to fill and channel the exhaust gases from exhaust port to exhaust plate that holds the pipe elbos and megs. You can go without the filler block but performance increase is zero. With the properly alighned filler block exhaust port and to elbo and pipe the power increase will be quite noticeable.
