Hi, Ron. Thanks for the call earlier... nice talking with you.

On the subject of building a 44XS powerhead from parts, I'd like to offer that I'd be happy to help anyone who needs it with a
grocery list of what you need in order to build the equivalent of the original factory race motor powerhead.

Even the original factory motors have had some parts updates, such as two ring, keystone ring pistons, a different exhaust cover and a different port cover. I have the part numbers for those items, which I'll share. These parts were used on the last of the 44's up through 1997, and are available new. Also, we have a good machinist who will blueprint ports to the 2000 spec. for under $100. Whether you like blueprinting or not, its approved, and I think it gives a degree of parity; every block is a good block for less than $100. The machinist I use for my 44XS blueprinting and boring is Jim Ruck, 920-233-3833. Tell him I sent you.

I'd like to get more drivers in the D classes, and I think that's more likely if they can find or build competitive motors. I'm not looking for any new work, and I don't plan to do this forever, so if we can help get these guys equipped to help themselves, I think that'd be a good thing. No reason they should need to re-invent what we already know...

Cheers.

This is from Jerry Wienandt. I had called to Discuss the 44 Rules that are being proposed in Atlanta...

Hi Ron,

Let me know if I can help.

Hey All,

The transfer port cover (updated) that mark is talking about in his post is no longer available we got the last one from a dealer in the west. I have one at my casting plant that I use and I am waiting for pricing. Exhaust plate is still available as of christmas I ordered one for a new motor I am building. I am reproducing recoil housing from a new one that I have. I hope to have a list and my web-site done soon, that will feature all of the reman parts for sale as well as the motors and Scott-Craft complete boat kits for A - FEH and 125 - 350 pro hydro's. These will be CNC cut boat kits - projected costs are 800-1200 CDN. "d" gears are in the works and I heard from my company last week the samples should be ready in two weeks. Projected cost is 280-300$.

Gearscases are finalized I will have 20 New 44XS gearcases (case only) within the next month. I hope to have complete gearboots available at FL. If all goes well, I will have a couple ready for sale with me at the nats.

We have a run of 1993 Decals being made the ones that are in the picture floating around the web of the 93 promo but was never released, this will add a feel of a newer looking motor to the mix.

If you are building in Canada, I have a local machnist that I use as well where as we can have the blocks blueprinted locally.

Finally , I have some FEH (triple) omc exhausts that I will be casting I have the plug at the foundry and I am waiting final costs from them to release pricing.

Any Questions - 613-836-2365 or multiroom@sympatico.ca

Thanks,
