The 48 boats did two cool spins in the first heat...But I saw him out front the second heat....Did he win or did he "Break Out"...???
I hope he didn't win, as you guys won't want more "WACKERS" (AS IN WEED WACKER OUTBOARDS) running with you guys...and we've got one "WACKER" driver, Pat Bowman ready to go!

would this do O.K. in Nostalgia? (I would take the trolling motor off, the extra thrust could cause me to break out of 80.9mph)

Yes, you could. All you need is a hand held Garmin "legend" gps. and the safety gear/equipment. You can always bring the trolling motor if you want to fish after the racing is done.

It would help if you put a prop on big engine this time......:D

no wonder I couldn't get on plane:rolleyes:
something about firing up the big motor in my housing development that could cause an issue. I personally think an offshore midsection sounds GREAT!!!
I have a Garmin eTrex, it records top speed and shows tenths as long as you are under 100 :D , so if I were to run 80.8 it would show it and I wouldn't break out until at 80.9mph. Can I use this? Or do I need to invest in a "Legend". Ron mentioned a race at Havasu Landing in Jan, is that a Nostalgia race?
I am trying to get some sponsors together so I can run the "Weapon of BASS Destruction" in BOTH some IHBA drags and some of the Nostalgia races ( 2 IHBA events and most likely the Marine Stadium race and both Parker races. I want to run the Parker 300, most likely Div IV (rules pending)...
email me as much info as you have....

The 48 boat broke out in the last heat with a speed of 84.4 mph.

I know that the word "Endurance" meant many boats running together for many laps...
When Nostalgia Endurance is running ten laps...Any thoughts on how many boats on the course in a heat???
Also, along the same lines, How many outboards would it take to get an Outboard Class? And would you, anyone, feel running say 8-9 Inboard Enduance and 4-6 Outboard Endurance, together, causing any problems???
The reason I asked, I went to Tennessee to buy an boat for Pat to run Inboard Endurance, I talked to Jimmy Harris (Old Mod VP Racer) oday, and when I told him I'd bought a boat for Pat, he said, "Where was his???" So, I've made an offer on a boat for Jimmy...
I've heard from a good source (Bill Curtis, John Lane's Father-in-law) that John Lane bought a Sleek Craft Mod VP JUST to run Nostalgia Endurance...
My questions are, really, one, I don't want the RACING DAY ANY LONGER, and two, I don't want to HELP friends get into Racing....if there is apt to be too much danger....

Ron, you are wrong, the "Endurance" in Nostalgia "Endurance" refers to the V bottom style boat not the length of the race. When Jim Best & I first proposed the class 4+ years ago, he came from the GN side of racing (GN145) so I came up with the name "Endurance Nostalgia" as an homage to the marathon/endurance hulls (and because I didn't like the sound of Endurance Vee) then reversed it when we added the flat class (Nostalgia Flat/Nostalgia Endurance).
Hope this clears it up!

Endurance meant LONGER, Rough Water....that is why you seperated Flat Bottoms from V- Hull... My question was and is....How many boats does anyone feel, should be running together??
If we field 5 Nostalgia Outboards will we run two ten lap heats or will we run with the Nostalgia Endurance??? Running by ourselves would lengthen the day....Right??
How could I be WRONG??? I'm like you Ross, ALWAYS RIGHT!

First, safety is always in mind when running any class so in answer to your question- whatever is safe for that particular race course will be the max on the water in each heat. I have been comfortable with 8-10 nostalgia flats and nostaglia endurance. Now that those classes have more than that we are looking to do eliminations like what we do in SS, PS and Crackerbox.
NEXT, WITH ALL THESE NEW POTENTIAL CLASSES YOU ARE CREATING I AM WONDERING IF YOU HAVE THE ABILITY TO EXTEND THE HOURS IN THE DAY?
Please note that I applaud your ideas (those that actually make sense and there are some) but please stop incessantly creating classes as it is I don't have enough time to put the classes on that we already have- 3-4 stock classes, 45SS, SST-45, Nostalgia Flat, Nostalgia Endurance, SS, PS, K, Crackerbox, GN, PWC - 13 classes and the SS, PS, Crackerboxes now need elimination heats as they are growing so please either create more hours in the day or stop for a moment and think of the ramifications of creating all these NEW classes.
Now if you are going to promote events, staff them, etc. then please disregard the above paragraph!
Happy holidays!
