Just a little humor for you guys out west and down south. Here in Quincy, IL, this is how we use our Quincy motors in the winter.

We had 15" of snow overnight - most I have seen in years. Knew it would take something special to move it. I was going to put the C Looper on it, but it was in the trailer and could not get to it.

This is my old 44 inch deflector mounted on a Marshall Grant tower housing that was sitting in my garage. I thought it would do the job.

I know the Quincy have some awsome top end HP however in our part of the north we need something with a little more torque.:D

Artie,

How can you run that snowblower without ear muffs? If it's not a speed secret of yours, can you tell us if it works better if you cup the blade or not?

Great pictures!

I think all this guy would need to do is change out the gear ratio in the differential if more bottom or top end was needed. Like it says in the article on this awsome home brew blower he can throw snow 50' at 3500rpm.
Thats plenty to fill your neighbors driveway full of snow.:D

Artie,

It's good to see you having fun with all the snow. Hopefully that means your back is feeling better.

Glad to see this thread is doing so well and especially glad to see BRF has restored a lot of the old Quincy Welding information. Never did understand why the origional thread was discontinued a while back.

That's great Art! :D

If you put a flathead on there you'd be able to keep both sides warm instead of just your left side. :p

I am amazed you brought that beautiful engine out in the cold like that! It deserves to be in a milder climate (like here in FL) By the sound of things you people in Quincy need one that is built for the cold. I saw a post a while back for www.v8snowblowers.com. Check it out and you can leave that honey inside where it's warm.

Seeing the name on it, I was wondering if the snow blower came from Ron.....
