I'm the crew chief on the red top fuel hydro named Whiskey River II you show crashing. That was in Red Bluff, CA 2 years ago. The boat decided it was going to make a left turn just past the lights at 220 mph. The driver Rex Childers had just pulled the chutes when it did it's thing. He wound up with a broken back. He cracked C6 and crushed C7 but was back in the boat in six months. The sad part about the whole thing was. This was only the second race with it set up as a twin prop. The blue boat shown before it. Crashed the following round. It was a top alky. hydro driven by Mark Attkinson called Gone Haywire. I have attached a picture of our new boat. It ran 5.20et at 234 mph on this pass even though it had a cylinder out and only ran on 7

You guys in "Top Fuel" are absolutley nuts!:eek: Thanks for the background on the accident and your team Dave.Glad to here "Rex" survied that crash.What are the rating requirements for top fuel capsules? They gotta be a pritty stought lay-up for what you guys require from them in a crash.Nice to see some drag guys viewing and posting on this site.Keep it up.:)

Tom I don't have the exact specs but SFI wrote them up. Ours is a TNT. The specs on the roll cage are the same as top fuel or funny car. It has a F 16 windshield with 2 pins on each side of the top hoop that have a register to line them up when you close it. It latches around a 1/2" push pin on each side.
