I have 90% or more of a McCulloch "630" racing motor, been looking for the special racing lower unit that fits the special 630 tower for a long time now. I am not looking for the "Sportsman" aka "Custom" gearshift racing lower unit that bolts up to the regular McCulloch 60hp - 75hp tower.
Leads on parts, a whole lower unit or a whole motor would be appreciated

What happened to these things??????
I have been looking for one for some time as well, probably 20 years since I saw a picture in a Mac brochure. I've never seen one.
Supposedly a good number were produced, you would think one would show up on ebay once in a while. I've never seen one on there either.
Very weird......
Does anyone reading this have one? If so, please post some pics!!!!

Hey guys,
Ron has a brand new one sitting on the floor in his shop if I recall. It is white and if not new it has seen very little run time.. .
he is an AOMCI member and he is in Charleston Lake, Ont.
I am not sure if it for sale but it;s a lead for you.
Regards,

Its Been A Long Time Since I Have Seen One Of These, There Was A Old Mac Dealer In Fairfield, Cal That Had One In His Show Room.
Me And My Buddy Only Seen One Set Of Them Race And It Was In The Stockton To Redding Marithon Race More Years Ago Than I Want To Think About..get With Joey Johnson In Reg 11 Maybe He Has Seen One In His Travels..one Of The First Places I Worked At As A Mac Was A Mac Dealer, But He Has Long Ago Past Away..he Use To Tell Me A Outboard Is A Outboard Just Because The Starter Is In A Diffeent Place Dont Make It Any Harder To Work On..
I'll Bet We Sold The Last Bunches Of Mac After They Went Out Of Business..sold All Kinds Of 4's And 9's...
I Bought A 4 For My Dad And It Still Runs Today, and Has Past Down Thru 3 Generations Of Family..:d

the Mc Culloch racer he's talkin about was a garden supply
(tractor&lawn mower) dealer , who happened to have raced Mc Cullochs , & seemed to be an expert on them. His name was CLYDE LONEY. I had forgotten his name for years . He had a 590 , i believe , hanging on the shop wall. He told me the reason so many guys stuck pistons and broke rods in them is cause they set them to run lean, and a fat oil mix. Just the ticket to lower octane & up the combustion temp &exhaust temp & DESTROY engines .
I happen to think McCullochs were very sensitive to fuel-air mixture & octane /timing advance
