RON, I watched all the posting on this mini GT last year. This was the class I asked about last year, about if it would be a class that might run in the MINI-INDERO(sp) you were trying to get off the ground last year. I think it would be a good class to get new young (maybe for a life time) and OLD (same) drivers into racing. One of the things that keep some from getting into racing is the engine they have to run to race in YAMOTO CLASSES, it is a race motor engine!!!!! Most just starting out, have not been in boating for generations, and they don't work on their own engines, if they do it is very little. It scares the racing right out of them and they go buy a JET SKI, MOTORCYCLE, ECT. that they can buy at the shop down town and get it worked on also, if need be. That is why I believe in every class there should be a number of engines you may run. Then, just try to make it as fair as you can. Once you get the new person into racing, that would be racing his "RUD" against a YAMOTO, you take the fear of the race engine away, never hear of, "what am I going to do?" right out of them. Next thing you know they are running a YAMOTO and don't know why( it's a race engine????) and my friend will help me work on it. LETS GO RACING!!!!! I think this mini GT class would be good as long as it didn't hurt you getting your FAT "C" class going. Also, I do believe I read of a rule change ?????????????? OMC ONLY. If that is the case let them run where they are at and after you get your FAT "C" class established start a new local class where you could run any 25hp 30hp 35hp what ever HP would be the best to run before moving up to FAT "C" , SPORTS C, 45SS or what ever. Also, one thing that is very nice is, I do believe you can run different type hulls in same race. I think this is a PLUS+++++.steve..22-R..QUINAULTRACING!!!HAPPY NEW YEAR...P.S. If I lived in CA I would drive you crazy trying to help you get both classes going. ALL THE LUCK IN THE WORLD TO YOU IN YOUR VENTURE, FAT "C", NEW ENGINES, AND RACING "TIL PARKER FREEZES OVER. This is why I asked the ??????????????? At one time did the YAMOTO save racing and now is killing it? I do not know the history and politics of the last 50 years. As a rookie, looking from outside the box, it seems possible. I own four YAMOTOS, thought I knew what I was doing. But most have their own agendas.  :D :) :) :)

MINI GT is a really inexpensive fun class. Tons of engines are legal, lots of boats that would fit the criteria, and most importantly motors are available almost at every marina or dealer.
Sport C also allows V bottom boats and tunnel boats to race against eachother.

Can run while others are sitting on the beach waiting for the wind to die down. I ask my friend Carl Lewis (he has been into and around boat racing since year 0001), something on this same line and as long as he has been around racing he thought I was crazy (hadn't showed him the paper work that says I really am) but that's a different story. Back to RACING while most boats are sitting on the beach. Within the god of all boat racing, the APBA, why not have a class that is capable of running in rough water and have a mini marathon if blown off, if I wanted to set on a windy shore I would stay home. It will blow, all most every afternoon.. TUNNEL, V-BOTTOM. I think it is a good idea, again from the outside looking in..steve..22-R..QUINAULTRACING:confused: :) :D

EEEK! You are right, Mark! Those jackets aren't even designed to float a person!

On a side note, Jim McKean was building those boats back in the early 90's - they were Yamato racing boats from Japan. The McKeans ran them in C-production at the OPC nationals at Kankakee a few times. (I remember one was dropped on the ramp, but still ran) I wonder where his molds are?
