From Dan Dando..
The question is... How did it end up in my hands? I raced in the Kansas
City Area with Jimmy Nichols an owner of a family restaurant here in KC. We
had 2 D Koenigs. Perhaps you sold the prop to him? Or did you attend any
of the races put on by the Kansas City Speedboat Association?
I have about all the boat racing memorabilia that I have room to store,
especially 1/2 a prop that I don't even have a story to go with it! If you
want it, I'll send it to you, or I'll put it with about 40 tons of other
stuff that is on it's way out.
It was my initial attention to leave all this stuff for the kids to sort
when I pass on just as a punishment for their teen years, but now I'm so
inundated, I can't even find the stuff that I'm looking for so a clean up
has begun.

We had a competitor have this happen to him in his 90 mph Sanger runner while exiting a corner, lucky for him, he wasnt at full speed. The thing ripped the log, bent the strut, shaft and tore the back of the casale off. V-drive Videos dvd of the 'Nosties' 2004 shows it in detail. We require these to be magged every year as a precaution, but even this didnt prevent the damage.

I've actually thrown more blades EXITING corners than anywhere else...It has usually happened when I made too tight a corner, then tired to get back on the power too quickly...I'd break the prop loose, and when she'd grad, off would go a blade...Those 45 SS guys where doing the same thing with power trim...over trimming and then dropping the trim...Now, they've got the props almost "Bullet Proof"..
