Does anyone know of a good source for an adapter that will let you run a 1 1/8 bore prop on a 1" shaft? Or is that a really bad idea?

At Long Beach Jeff had 1 1/8 to 1 and 1 to 7/8...said he got them from Bregeron....but, he was in a hurry and I didn't see them...but I'm interested in making some or buying some...
Keep me posted...and I'll see what I find.
Meeting with Dave Rankin tomorrow...maybe he has some adapters, too!!!

This is something I thought about a good few years ago. I can see no reason why it would not work, my major worry was, it would not be very thick and the keyway would need to be failry shallow and even then not leave much metal left. and it would need seperate keys from shaft to adaptor and adaptor to prop... or a slot in the adaptor for one key from the prop to the shaft.
I thought with any decent hoprsepower aplied it would squash the adaptor out if it was a slotted arrangment, or break on one of the thin points where the keys were on a twin key setup.. and then squash out.
I was never game to try anyway

Why couldn't you make a windowed sleeve, with a unsquare key. (.250 X whatever to engage shaft and prop thru the window in the sleeve?.. Install sleeve. place key in slot,(window) all the way into the shaft, then install prop over the whole works..........???................MP
