Hey all,

Does anyone know what the height of a 9Q tower is. I found a tower this morning that measure 15 5/8" overall the yoke and 1 piece clamps are there but no swivel pin or co-pilot and it needs a piece welded on cav plate. I am trying to find out if this is an H or a Q.

I also have a twister one (blue stripe) lower unit adaptor for the Big SSM. 200$ pictures are available. It is going to hit ebay next week.

That's a Q tower. There is one on eBay right now, item #230106616269

If you are talking about the piece of the cav plate that doesn't go all the way to the front on both sides - they were made like that

If memory serves me right, "Q" towers were set up for 15" transoms and "H" towers were set up for 13" transoms. (I believe "H" stood for hydro-short) After that the quarter inch and eighth inch shims were added as props became better and could run "higher". Then, as the skegs became less effective, more surface area was added to the skeg to maintain better control. This all happened over a couple of years like 1951-1954:) I'm sure there are guys out there with better memories that can get real specific on this subject.:) Rod
