:( Is there any one available to redo a lower unit within the next two weeks for a race the 23rd? It's for a Yamaha 50. Noone I trust is available up here in Alaska at present. The unit is not blown, but may need a bearing or whatever one might find during disassembly. i just don't want to run another race with out having it examined. i loned it out and the tapered driveshaft bearing went. The borrower replaced  it but who knows what kind of work was done there. I know better than try it myself.

pull the water pump off, put the Lu in ( i use a workmate) or in the wood jaw vise, shift to neutral, hold drive shaft still with one hand, push in on prop shaft
and turn, Hows it feel?. shift to forward, hold prop shaft with one hand, turn drive shaft back and forth, Hows that Feel?. pull up and down on drive shaft, should have some play but no over kill.
