Delivery Date For New 2007 Side Winder Outboard???
<HR style="COLOR: #000000" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->Bill Boyes tells me that the new Sidewinder Outboard is going to be "BLUE PRINTED" from the factory and that there will be no need to send your motor somewhere to make it fast... This Side Winder will be an A, 15 and B, and J with a restricter...
I want to buy several B's. Anyone know when the delivery date is for these motors??? Also, where do we order one???

no said delivery date yet Ron, but you will be able to buy them from Sidewinder direct out of Florida or also from Steve Greaves, the West Coast dealer for them. I would suspect they will not be ready for sale until the begining of next year...........around $4000
there was one on display at the Stock Nat's. It looks good and strong, but was not ran on a boat, which alot of people wanted to see. ...........including me. Ed Runne is the one doing most of the work, so you can bet it will be quality stuff............

Where are the Sidewinders going to be manufactured and are there any yickifigion parts, or all made in USA? Are the measurements standard or metric? The motors look great. And, it is refreshing to see alternatives. If a motor is manufactured in limited quantities, the business side of me is betting the price tag will dance closer to 5K if the company is to profit, unless of course it is manufacturered in a 3rd world country. Higher price with me is OK, as every business has the right and entitlement to profit, cause that's why they are in business....

the motors are being made in the USA. The ignition system is basically all OMC 2cyl style ignition, but will be manufactured by RAPAIR.
Ron Selawach (the owner of the company) is a true die-hard boat racer that is re-introducing the motor and knows he will probably never recoup his investment, but he is not doing it to make an money (this is a side venture for him, aside from his main company), but to give our form of boat racing another true race engine......................and if you do not believe me, ask ANY boat racer that knows Ron...............and yes, I do know him. So, do not assume anything, other than the facts.......
if the motors were to be advertised for $5000, how many do you think they would sell?? I am betting not a whole lot. Ric Montoya has close to 100 Yamato 302's for sale for around $2200 and does not sell a whole lot of them, so are people gonna spend twice that?? Ron (and his team) are well aware of that, and are trying to keep the cost way down and pretty much eliminating any profit, if at all. I am sure they would be happy to make money or even break even, but probably not gonna happen. I hear several people saying they will buy the engine, but that will remain to be seen. Hell, people whine about spending $2000 on an engine already and $1500 for a racing lower unit..........

I think Ron has taken on an incredible venture. I am simply doing math in my head, and am cautiously optimistic about the sidewinder. Your right, you got a $3,000 venture to get you in the door, but you can easliy dump another 2K BPing your stock engine. so, if Sidewinders come all ready set up, I would rather do things once from the gate than after the purchase....

Ron I usually only have the motor a week before its ready to ship back unless Im building a boat then it would be a little longer but would be told ahead of time that it will be longer to do. I dont know how many Merc 15's APBA has left. Any 1999 or newer 9.9 or 15 can be used with the conversion kit installed ( a 9.9 will need a new 15 carb and tunner pipe installed list for both is around 200.00) the conversion kit from APBA is 545.00 including shipping. If you buy a fishing engine you can resell the gear foot and tiller arm and get back 1/4 to 1/3 the cost of the motor. I have three engines and all started out as 9.9 fishing engines.

I'm having lunch with Ben Marrone and Paul Gritchar, Wednesday. Part of our agenda is to plan to have Ben's 11 year old Twins GIRLS test Marlee Hill's hydro, next week at Irvine.
If things go as I PLAN, we'll have two new Merc J Hydros in the WORKS.....
I'll keep you posted!!!

Hey Ron,
You should know that Dad and I had 3 motors qualify for the finals in JR, JH, and AXSH in Wakefield. In ASXR we had 5 motors qualify and run in the finals of AXSR, with 1 winning. Since the start of the AX classes a Hagerl Merc or OMC has won all but 4 AXSR Nationals. The First was with and OMC but since then its been on of our Merc. You should give dad or I a call. Since we both know those OMC's we sold you were so good, we can do some MERC work for you.
