This is to find out who is attending the race. If you need some help to make the race, this is the place to ask for it. Our local racers will help out if we can. John has stepped the money up to 12grand and tow money as well. We need as many teams to attend as possible so we can continue to see bigger purses for the larger fields.

I talked to shubert eirlier. There will be no gas on site. Run what you bring or get it from a filling station. As long as it passes. For all new patisipants he said that he will drop the additinal $100 and only have to pay the 200. He appricates anyone who makes the effort to make it here. I will try to find out the local race gas dealers and post them on this thread as soon as possible! He also said that he will be posting the hotel info on the sport racing site tonight.

Any fresh water hook up's to wash off equ?Just tried to call the Orange chamber of commerce. The city of Orange took a direct hit by the hurricane last night so they must be closed. I'll try and get a # for whatever city department runs the park and I'll let you know.

It might be nice if the fire dept. could bring their compressor over or make it available to fill air tanks for those that might need it.

If you remember it was the valve was broke on my bottle. It wouldn't turn off and all the air runs out! I have to admitt that It was more comfortable going back to basic's for a change and having less things to disconnect. I know that having air is a benefit but I have flipped over I think 7 times and the only time I almost didn't make it out was with an air system. Not saying that they don't work but don't depend on them if your upside down.

excellent,,,,thanks guys

Here is a link to the release form HQ has on its website, if you take this and your bottle to any dive shop they will fill it for you pretty cheap, and you don't need a dive card to fill it either.
http://www.apba-racing.com/Forms/PDF/Air-Tank%20refill%20release.pdf
John,
I'll work on the 6 pack request...
What kind of fuel is the truck going to supply?
Rob,
Can't you have a double deck trailer built and be able to bring both? We all know your rich and have unlimited resources....:p
john miffco
09-15-2007, 04:54 PM
cool deal on the 6 pack
he did confirm 6 barrels were coming
im guessing its the marine 96 that we had before that 120s like
i will call john s to find what fuel is on monday
and i will post it
I have found that release paper Not to work at the dive shops I went to,they look at it and just say No way,,not without a C card. If you can get it to work for you fantastic, but I have had no luck with it.
I did find a guy in the FIRE DEPT. that would fill my tank ,after I explained I would not be diving with it.
My bottle takes a special adapter anyway,Sport Couldn't fill it at Highlands,I will get a new one before next year,,,,, better to have it and not need it than the other way around, remember Highlands John?????
john miffco
09-15-2007, 07:28 PM
i tried the release paper last yr
and they said no also
so had to pull out the card
dont want to remember highlands
1st in qual,1st in heats,1st to roll
went from good to bad day real quick
just like the rest of the season,,,
start good and gremlins take over
1 day ill have good luck again
hopefully next week
,,,,,got air now,,,,,,,
john
I know what you mean,,Iv'e been looking for some of that Gremlin repellant to spray the boat down with but the store seem's to be all out  :D
Is that gas going to legal for all of the class's
john miffco
09-15-2007, 08:44 PM
between glynn and me we bought up all the repelent there was,,,,,,sorry
but found out it dont work,,,,,gremlins multiply when they get wet
so the repellent is a scam.......
glynn has had some great finishes,,,,but more bad luck than the rest of us
both of us are having to build 2 new motors each just to race
but he has a broken boat being fixed also
so i cannot complain,,,,,,
i cannot answer for the 45s
fred miller runs the 45 program
so he will let yall know the fuel of the weekend,,like always
apba santioned events
goes by apba fuel rules,,,,,,,,,,,
tracy hawkins,,,,,,,
he came by today and gave him tuner, cowl, trim pump
then he went to schuberts and got motor
so lookin like we will be having the kaos brought out of retirement
after hanging from my shop roof for the last 6 yrs

I went out to the site today and got a good look. In order to have any distance on the course it will have to be a triangle with one short and 2 long straits. I hope that they launch us from the navy pier. It is the only place that you will have a decent run to the corner! A great site and plenty of portacans are already on site. The water is smooth and should be blocked from the wind. The river was free of debre regaurdless of the hurricane. It's going to be one hell of a race and the advertisment is unreal. They have a commercial an almost every channel. Hope to see ya all there.

I called Tracy today, and he said it is screaming. It is even faster than he remembers. Just wait untill he is running his own equipment. He has borrowed almost the whole damn boat. He has Glyns powerhead, some of Miffcos stuff, some of the Schuberts. I think he is going to be wearing a pair of Timmy's pants. He is borrowing my shoes. He is using Doug Langhams boxers, and Tim Seebolds prop wrench, and he will have an autographed picture of Bill Seebold in the cell with him during the race.
He is still looking for some more stuff to borrow.
GO H A W K I N S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

gotta say for us 120s to look out ,,,,,
the big guns have been broken out,,,,,,,,
heard the word that tim seebold is coming to mix it up with us
we havent had tim here in 120 since 2005 at port neches
also glynns new boat wont be repaired in time
so he is breaking out his brand new seebold
and along with the champ high points leaders
of chris shepard, kevin ladd, michael schubert and howie nichols
tim fry and 2 of our guys from lubbock
along with who we already know is coming
think this will be the hardest hitting race of the yr
gotta get the A game out and be prepared

sounds like things are coming together for this maiden voyage in Orange, Texas, with the tunnel boat guys and the famous, (or infamous), Tri-Hull's! Jan and I will be there to provide our input to the weekend. We should be on site late Friday.
This will be Jan's first time in Texas for one of John's races. It is a joy to hang out down there...we are going to have a good ole' time!

Thanks, John, for the thoughts. Lots of good memories down there in Texas, and I have seen some great racing in all 3 classes over the past 3 - 4 year...and I have developed that special appetite for those crazy guys in the Tri-Hulls! Just love it!
Have some good tough memories, too, of my good friend Mr. Nunez! What a fun guy he was and, man, did we pack the house at his funeral down there. Remember that, Curtis!? We had some of the most honest and frank conversations about life and family as he struggled to keep life going.
So, see you all down there for another chapter of tunnel boat racing!

Hi Laurie and Jan,
This may be off topic, and I don't know you, but hope to meet you in Orange. DKL's (Doug) wife is in the hospital...prayer works and is stronger where two or more bind together.
And, what's a guy got to do to sit in on your words when you speak before the race? I don't wanna miss a Sunday service--even a short one. I'd like to be there. And welcome to Texas, Jan!
Thanks,
Nate

Hey, Nate! Thanks for asking about the service. We will find a good place somewhere in the pits to have the chapel service. John Schubert will have his driver's meeting either right before or right after the chapel on Sunday, most likely. I will post notices around the pits on Saturday giving the location and time after I get both approved by John Schubert.
I have been doing this chaplaincy for 13 years with tunnel boat racers around the US, Canada and Mexico. Usually my lovely wife, Jan, will be there, as well. I think you will enjoy the time we have together as a racing community the day of the final events. These boat racers are all tops in my book!
