I saw that and have no idea what it means.

Ooops! I accidently deleted your post, Tom. I know what truncated means and you are correct, it means shortened.
I know which spec Trader is refering to (in a particular racing motor). It doesn't mean the reeds are shortened ... it refers to the holes under the reeds. I showed the spec to Fred Hauenstein and Rich Fuschlin and neither one of them had a guess on it either. Whatever it is - it starts after serial number 2309311.

Hey Sam,
I take it these would be aluminum cages. My chum has 6 or 7 of these motors and probably 6 or 7 more in boxes. Do we have a size for the earlier reed slot to compare. These motors are long since apart and I would need to compare them. I would suspect that he has some new cages as well. I know there are some 65 4 banger brand new slugs on the parts rack.

Dave, these were a special racing motor from 1968. Don't know if the reeds were the same spec as the fishing motor. I'll try to look up the measurement.
