Just found this so I'm posting first!:D Thanks to Ron Hill and everyone else here at BRF for all your interest in the Tri-Hull class.

Don't forget we have our last points race of the year on the 22&23 in Orange Tx and then the Tri-Hullathon as soon as John gets the date.

Also THANKS for the invite to the Blue Water Casino 300! Thats going to be a GREAT vacation for the whole family!

The first picture of Super Stock Tri-Hull's in action!

Tim,
Could one of you guys post the details of the class for folks like me? I know I have read that the class is based on a Glastron hull and OMC motor, but specifically which hull and size / year motors are ya'll using? Keep it simple for folks like me.

Thanks,
Nate

ps---> the photo you posted is awesome!

Nate and others,

You can go to sportracingtour.com our old website page, click on tri-hulls or classes, under trihulls click on class rules and all of the original info. is there.
Also the web site has a bunch of older pics from the infancy of the trihull class and some older 45 and 120 photos. Perhaps someone could link the class rules off that site onto here,I do not know how to do it.THAT INFO SHOULD BE ON THE NEW SITE BUT IT'S NOT??????

BASICALLY a new Miffco trihull is the best bet,or a Glastron 166 is the older base design with open bow which can be modified like Corey is doing,a OMC 140 is the motor of choice that meets the criteria of the cu.in. rules
John(miffco) and Tim Thibodaux are probably the two best contact on here for more info.

Once Corey quits being shy about his handi work and post some pics you all can seee how a older hull can be modified and still be competitive. Right Corey????

LOL! No ! I didn't type it( that would take me a year to type!)

It's just a simple "Cut and Paste" from the web page that you posted;)

Have there been any changes or updates to the rules since 2003?

I am dangerously close to being done and bringing it to you Tim.

I have enough foam to float a Hummer under the bow.

I have really only a coat of paint to put on it, and then to tweak and double check some things.

I hope I can keep it in the water, I imagine it is going to want to launch at the drop of a hat.

In reading the rules it says that gearcases can be modified, but low water pick ups are not allowed, and the water intake:confused cannot be moved, Why are there no nosecones???????

No reason to spend the money for NO gain. LWP won't help you at speeds under 80 mph.

We run the gearcase off the FastStrike V4 because it has a little better shape than the old crossflow unit but thats about it.

Get some pictures of that thing up so my inbox can have a break! LMOA!

I'm ready on my end so get it to me soon as you can.

Really close to being done, but I keep wanting to chance things in the boat.

I am undecided about lowering the rollcage about six inches, but I don,t know if I will be able to see out.

It is alot of work in order to see if it will work out.

?????????????

Remember that thing rides nose up anyway except in the turns, lower the seat to much and you'll be loking at the top nose of the bow going down the straights. Remember you can't smack Tim in the straight away if you can't see him:D OH WAIT he'll be behind you anyway right  :D :D :p

In the event that I feel that I will not be able to place in the top three, I was considering switching from aggressive driving to (Freestyle).

I was hell on a jet ski, and I feel like I will be just as good in a tri-hull.

Hell I was driving a tri-hull long before I had a jet ski or a 45 boat.

I will call Shubert and ask that a rather large ramp be set up slightly of the edge of the course.

It will be a interesting race to say the least:)

Corey, you may want to cut off those long bolt/screws sticking out of the wood, looks kinda dangerous, might snag you if you get it upside down.

corey thibodaux
09-05-2007, 09:14 PM
I think I will go ahead and cut them off. I put a left foot prop to keep myself pressed against the seat. I also added the shift box mount tonight.

I will do my best to liven up the class a bit more.

Tri-hull is just what boat racing needed, but I would have never thought about it on my own.

We need to bring back the mod u class where you run what you brung. This would get mod vp and bass boats and Allisons and Hydrostreams in an all out shoot out.

Well????????????:D

Mark75H
09-06-2007, 06:25 AM
With the same kind of claimer rule it could work ... want to risk your ride?

To answer the pad question, yes the tri hulls that are competitive have a pad

tthibodaux
09-06-2007, 06:34 AM
Is this considered a pad? Sure is ALOT easier to drive than a real pad bottom boat!

I'm competitive..

Mark75H
09-06-2007, 06:39 AM
Yes, that's a pad. Right at the center of the bottom (near the drain plug) the area is flat - the V does not continue all the way to the center. That's what makes the Glastron and splashes of it the fastest Tri

I bet it is easier to drive than a true V with a pad because it is not a true V

I always wanted to deck over my dad's bow rider ... of course I also wanted to cut the top 6 or 8 inches off of the sides to lower it a bit too ... I bet it would look killer without the bump out where the side and deck meet.

Mark75H,

Only the motor ,prop and jack plate can be claimed,,,,not the whole boat

Small V hulls with a production 3 cyl 70 hp on them would be good, those motors are sitting around everywhere also.
the course is so short not a whole lot of speed can be gained so big heavy hp is not really needed ,would you agree Tim

14-15 ft v hulls with a 70 3 cyl. === fast - reasonably safe -fun- affordable

Hulls and motors sitting around everywhere cheap===what else could you ask for in another entry level boat class that could be started up anywhere.

The one that used to cook is a 13' Checkmate, pre factory burning to the ground in Ohio with a 55HP "Then Came" Johnson. in '70, the nationals brought a new APBA record of 49MPH average and change..... Ron knew the driver of the controversial "Then Came" Johnson, named after "Then Came Bronson" movie.....
