Discriminating performance boaters have new options for dialing-in their Mercury Racing (#6) SSM VI-Drive-powered boats; six new options, to be precise, thanks to the recently released VI-Drive spacers from BBlades Professional Propellers.
BBlades is the only manufacturer offering SSM VI-Drive spacers in quarter-inch increments, ranging from ¼-inch to 3-inches. All other manufacturers only offer spacers in half-inch increments. “While a quarter-of-an-inch may not sound like much to the uninformed, an experienced boat rigger knows that each boat and each boat set-up is different,” says Brett Anderson of BBlades. “As a result, the ‘one size fits all’ mentality of some manufacturers does not meet the needs of the performance boater looking for the ultimate set-up and optimum performance.”
Spacers allow for adjusting the “X” dimension of a sterndrive. By changing the depth of the propeller in the water. Raising the “X” dimension generally will increase speed, while lowering the “X” dimension can improve handling or boat attitude.
