We Get Mail...Hi Ron,

I am glad to see people are keeping the old boat racers alive.

I appreciate your kind words on your website about my grandfather, and I
appreciate you remembering me also. I have very fond memories of the few
years I raced stock outboards. In addition to Ted May, you were one of the
racers I looked up to. In fact, you & Ted & Jimbo McConnel, (the OMC guys),
were my tunnel boat heroes when I was a kid.

After racing stock outboards & motorcycles a few years, I had to go do what
many of us young guys do. I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to run
in POPBRA for a few years in the eighties but I gave that up when I went
into a law enforcement career in 1986. There ended my boat racing but not
my pleasure boating.

I recently came back to work at Powerboat Magazine, so I am in the process
of catching up on the marine industry - actually what I am really catching
up on is the publishing business.

I hope all finds you well. Thanks again for your website.

Mike Nordskog

P.S. I am more than happy to put your site on www.powerboatmag.com (http://www.powerboatmag.com/). If you
send me your logo and up to 50 words of text, I will be happy to put you up.

Thanks, Mike!!!

That's really cool, Ron. :) Mike has always been a class act.

I had the same exact heroes. Those days were the best!

Wonder if Mike remembers racing with a broken ankle at Indio? He and Eric raced stock outboards at the same time we did - and we all quit about the same time too. Sure had a lot of fun during that short time though.

Back then Don Johnston was a member of that group too - Ted May acted as the guardian over the entire group of young boys (my brother included) so we called him "Uncle Ted".

Those are the three May-Crafts - all had similar graphics, just different colors.
(That's my dad in the blue hat)

One of Mike's not-so-lucky days....

he's a little wet walking back to his pit where his crew is drying out his boat... ;)

I've showed you this one before. You thought that little girl might be Mandy Dawe -- Puddingstone 1977. Also pics of Nick Buell and Eric Huhn (or is that one of the Davidsons??). At the bottom is one of Bob Carlson's state of the art hydros. (Wish I would have taken a better shot of it now)
