i dont know if you are really interested or not but the first 3 boats were Del Crafts , built by Ron DelRosa of Antioch . The first boat was owned [ and driven ] by Walt Crane of Antioch [ thats CA ] It had the first fuel injection that was built by Al Gonzoles [algone injection] [spl] Boat ran at Havasu but got hit on the first turn by another tunnel { coincidence , The driver was from Antioch Ill.] Second boat was John Bettencourt from Modesto , Dont know the 3 boat. { the one with his nose in the air, or who was driving the Shoults [ spl] tunnel ] But the last boat was Bill Miller from the Calif Bay Area.He still comes to boat races and loves the sport as all us old races do .

I believe the third boat was Bob Burgess of Modesto. I am pretty sure it was1972. The race was put on by West Coast Outboard Assn. That was a great place to race. The motel rooms overlook the race course.

That sounds right to me. I remember Bob. That was a dyno-mite place to race. Copper Cove. The hotel overlooked the race site and so did the bar. It was hangover day on race day .
