Region 7 is throwing out a proposal to put on all 3 divisions of kneeldown racing at Depue in 2010.
Ron has suggested it be done every 5 years at Depue and call it "The Super Nationals"
I think both ideas are great.
If you are an APBA member please tell your category reps and region chairmen that you support this concept so they can give appropriate feedback at the national meeting in Detroit this winter.

I don't!
I would tell my category rep the same thing but Region 14 doesn't have one.

Just curious, but why don't you find the idea interesting?

I bet he is thinking that all 3 categories there at the same time would be a problem, which it would.
This has already be considered ... the plan is to have the races one week after another, not all combined at once.

Over on Hydroracer.net this was discussed and a lot of people seemed to think that DePue would not be the ideal location. Some other locations were suggested and one that was popular was St Louis. It has the advantage of being more centrally located and a good history of OPC racing
Pictures of Dick Austin's boats recently posted on www.screamandfly.com's Vintage and Historic forum at DePue this year along with the alky reunion ... if the venue that decides to take on the Super Nationals wanted even more weekends of racing related boat activities 2 or 3 other racing related events would be a reunion like the one held at DePue and an APBA/AOMC vintage racing event. These would not have to be at the same physical location and not directly involve the current racing divisions.
Look at the trailer Dick made to carry and show 4 big F hydros: http://forums.screamandfly.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1234541

Promote Boat Racing....
<HR style="COLOR: #000000" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->I posted this as answer on www.hydroracer.net (http://www.hydroracer.net)
Seems the word PROMOTE is a good word....Seems to me, The Propeller Magazine does PROMOTE Boat Racing, Promoting Nationals Meetings.............such as Detroit...Los Angeles.......but HAND-On Race Promotion.....hmmm....Seems a man named Jake wanted to do some PROMOTING, but he is no longer associated with APBA...
I have felt for YEARS, APBA SHOULD PROMOTE one or two races per DIVISION per YEAR.....But I'm not on the APBA BOD, and when they have an opening, they never appoint me...
Seems APBA has 2,000 members now, when 20-30 years ago they had 6,000....
One problem with APBA is the same problem POGO had...Pogo found the enemy, and it was US!
At National Meetings each Division goes in a room and closes the door...I joking said I didn't take notes this year, I'd just read my notes from 13-15 years ago at Detroit...but, SELDOM, if ever, does anyone talk about PLANNING.......for the association future......meetings are about insurance, capsule safety....scoring....all how to....APBA is like a consultant....A consultant know 50 ways to make love but doesn't know any women...Don't TELL me how to put on a race...SHOW ME!!!!! Show me a DAYTONA 500...SHOW ME a Bluewater Resort and Casino 300 Enduro....Show me a Baycity River Roar....
When I taught school, at meetings we always ended them with "ITEMS FROM THE FLOOR"...Sometimes, we could find more on the floor than paper clips...I often wonder how many people have started BOAT RACING, then quit in disgust and went Go Kart racing...
In the summer, I get more than 50 e-mails a day about racing boats with less than 70 hp....there isn't a class in APBA that any of these 50 e-mailers a day could race...
APBA should be split in to two parts: FAMILY, FUN and FRIENDS (Grass Roots)
Professional ($$$$)....... WHAT THE AVERAGE APBA MEMBER HAS TO REALIZE, IS THIS: THE BEST RACE OF THE DAY IS THE ONE YOUR KID RACES IN....
I vote today to have APBA Promote and RUN the 2010 SUPER NATIONALS IN FLORIDA....Two Weeks of solid racing...All DIVISIONS...including OFFSHORE.
1. Hire someone to run these SUPER NATIONALS IE..Kristi Ellison (She is a GLOBAL THINKER, has contacts in Florida...)...
2. Hire me to help Kristi....
