Well my rookie season (in the tri-hull) was a real learning experience for me and everyone I bounced off of all year.

The season started in Highlands Tx back in April. I bounced off everything on the coarse except the rescue boat according to MIFFCO!:D Managed to piss off Chris Fairchild and tore the boat up all in one day.

Loads of fun but I sure had a lot to learn about Tri-Hull racing.

Round Two!!

Port Neches Tx, Mothers day weekend.

Well not much different than Highlands. I didn't hit as many boats but I bet I spun out 30 times in 2 days. Didn't piss anyone off this time but the boat was in pretty bad shape!:D Finished 10th

Bryan Tx, round 3..

Well we got the boat fixed after Port Neches and did some testing to try and help the driver settle down a bit and the result was much better.:D

Highlight of my season was racing so hard with Mike Schubert and never giving him an inch. Mike is SO smooth in everything he drives. Never makes a mistake and gets FASTER every lap.

Sommerville Tx..

Good weekend but the end result wasn't all that good. We went to Sommerville fresh off a win at Bryan and thought things looked good for 2 in a row.

The day went fine starting in the back every heat with all the other top finishers from the previous heats and making our way with ease to the front. Started the final on the pole for the second straight race only to give up the win with 2 to go because the steering broke and the driver choked.

Finished 2nd.

Orange Tx..

Last race of the season.

Great weekend with a points championship in reach if things went our way and a boat we thought could win. Kevin and I started in the back both heats on Saturday and finished 1 and 2 fairly easy both heats.(Kevin 1st and me 2nd both heats).

Sunday I got a second in the first heat and jumped out to a straightaway lead in the second heat and the motor just died. Passed a couple boats back and wound up 3rd.

The final comes around and Kevin and I are side by side on the front row at the start. The race goes green and we blast to the first turn! I ducked inside Kevin in turn one and pulled along side down the back. Half way down we got to the wave from the start and my boat launched off a wave and landed on top of Kevin!:D :D I let off and turned right because we were getting to the bouy, went through his roostertail and then spent the next 4 laps trying to run him down. Well, Kevin ain't lettin you by easy so I never caught before my transom busted and the wiring harness unpluged on the motor from flexing and I had to sit and watch from the infield.

Again, AWESOME job Kevin. I know you finished 2nd in the race but You are the Super Stock Tri-Hull CHAMPION for 2007.;)

hey tim
from my quote of "bouncing off every1 at highlands but the rescue boat"
now,,,,,, i really dont know if you missed the rescue boat !!!!!!
so in reality that 1 is in the air untill we have rescue confirm that....

but you need to finish the quote
which was that your driving improved soo much
that you and kevin put on the best show of the yr till your transom broke
on the last heat of the last race of the yr

as you said when yall got air off the swell down the straight
there was enough room under you to drive another boat
so from 1st heat to last heat,,,
major improvement

great job
great 1st season
look forward to the next
john

True champion is Mike Schubert. He sat out a couple of races which let me finish with the points lead. As you said Tim if you are waiting for Mike to make a bad move on the race course it will probably never happen. But if one of us bobbles he always takes advantage. I also want to give a HUGE thank you to Bob Schubert for letting me drive his boat. Without Bob my boat racing career would be listinening to Tracy Hawkins tell me how fast we used to be...just kidding Tracy.:D

Family time!!

This racing season I was lucky to have my cousin Corey come and help me at all the races. After all his work helping me we got Corey a boat just in time to make a few laps at the last race and next year he and I get to race rubrail to rubrail all season!

I get to polish my skills tuning his motor and helping him learn to win!!

What a cool sport..:D

I think the thing I enjoyed the most about this season was having my kids with me at a couple races. I got to go racin with my dad my whole childhood and have great memories and I hope they do too!

My 9 year old took her program from the Orange race with just about every drivers autograph in it to school for show and tell. Her friends think she's so cool because her dad races boats.:) Kinda cool that they love it so much!

By the way, the extra little blond in a couple pictures is Tatum Thibodaux, Corey's little girl.

Tim...I think that is a great thread to show pics and post your thoughts about your rookie year. It is along the same lines as miss KT Doodle. This is something that you can look back on, and if you don't do it now....many, many details will be lost to the passage of time. The most priceless part of it is that your kids will have some vague recollection, but the photos and words will make the events much clearer.

My wife asked me why I like posting pictures of myself all the time and I told her it wasn't just posting pics of myself I was posting for people like myself who enjoy to read something besides us Tri guys crying about rules.:D
