For anyone that hasnt seen it yet , check out region 11s web site . Go to messege board. Shadow Cliffs has been pulled off the schedule for this year. If you are a runner of a club you might find this very note worthy. It aint just in California.

You can add Sutherlin, Oregon as another race site gone. The local Lions club has decided that they no longer want to support the race, and their support was what got us access to the reservior. This had become a successful event for CORA and was enjoyed by racers up and don the West Coast, since it was held on Labor Day weekend. I doubt we'll be able to find another body of water available that weekend, now or in the future. :(

According to the message posted by Joe Johnson on the messege board it was because of to much noise. If you want to read about it go to region 11s messege board and scroll down to the second page. All the info is there.

Ron, it is a done deal, no more Sutherlin race. Larry Darneille (who builds the best mod hydros on the West Coast) was in charge of the race and he told me the Lions Club no longer wants to deal with it. So.......2 great race courses lost this year already. This is the reason we all need to work together!!!!!!!!!!!!

What Daren says is true. The County doesn't want the reservoir shut down for the weekend because the skiers complain about it. The Lion's Club had the political clout to get the County to let us have the water. The Lion's Club doesn't want to do the race any more. Larry has done a great job of building this race up over the last seven years, and he's real frustrated right now. It broke even for the first time last year, and this year was looking to be just as big. Then again, we might have had to call it anyway for lack of water. Y'all gotta send some of that rain and snow up here

We're looking for other sites, though it may not happen this year. We a re a small club, and don't have the resources or membership base to fight the political battles every year. We're going to look to places where we are wanted and have a local presence (Lake Lytle), and places that are under state or federal control. We've got Oregon and SW Washington to look at for possibilities.
