I ran into Ken Scoville, Jr. this weekend at The Blue Water Resort and Casino 300 Enduro. I told him I had found his dad's Record propeller at Apple Valley Marine.
I've often posted had great an ambassador Ken Sr. was for the sport with all his writing. Kenny reminded me his mother, Til, also spend many an hour in front of the typewriter writing article to promote boat racing...
Sending Kenny this prop, this week.
ADD: Kenny, don't forget you said you'd send me a DVD of some of your boat racing pictures...
Great seeing you.....

Hi Ron,
The Cary 36 prop arrived early this week, THANKS! And you even polished it. Many years ago at Newport Dunes I collided with Walter Huhn in the first turn putting holes in his new DeSilva and my new Morehouse. You were there too. My best propeller at the time lost a blade and rolled the other blade back. I still have that propeller mounted on a plaque hanging in my office. This winter I plan to make a plaque for the 36 prop. The transfer of old photos to disc is still a work in progress. You will see them soon.

Hey Ken,
Have asked a few people if they knew your whereabouts? Hear that you are working with the champboats.
We traveled to the races a few times with your Dad. In fact I still live in the neighborhood and pass your old shop in Eagle Rock quite often. Like Ron, I remember your Mom and Dad's devotion to racing. Seems like they were the reason that results appeared in the LA Times. Was this prop run on a "36?"
Hope to see more posting and pictures from you. Truly another of many great families with a remarkable history in boat racing.

Hi Allan,
I have worked with Roger Carr and Doug Rea at Champboat Series events for the past several years. Doug mentioned his visit with you at the DePue reunion and how he had no trouble recognizing you, you haven't aged. I get out to visit my kids and grand kids a couple times per year. Send your contact information to ken@boatwrx.com and the next time I am out Pasadena way we can get together for a visit. Yes! The propeller was used on my Dad's 2US 36 Willard Runabout. I have some photos that will be posted as soon as I have time to learn the secrets.

Hey Ken,
My e-mail to you was returned. Will try again. Great Thanksgiving photo you posted. Maybe this is not the proper thread, but why don't you post some history about your Dad? He was instrumental in the success of the 36 class. Also his work at the studios. When we rode to the races together I can remember his stories about swinging actors around on wires. I think he said he worked with the Marx Brothers? Also, his relationship with the LA Times. Didn't he know someone in the sports department that would publish the race results? Your Mom and Dad were also neighbors. I was trying to remember the street they lived on. Anyway, it would be nice for us to hear some things about your family.
Thanks Ken.
