Schenectady Marine Supply's (John Valachovic) entery in the Long Island Marathon of july 6 1960. A Ted Jones 17' Catamaran powered by twin merc 800s finished the race in 6 hours 22 min and placed second. The driver was George Thompson of sarasota Florida. The first place boat was a Power Cat with dual Merc 800s and driven by Chuck Mercereau. Bob Valachovic

Bill Sirois used to ride shotgun for old George cause he was about blind..George was EC's right hand man back then.

Then that was probably Bill Sirois in the theTed Jones cat with George Thompson. The boat was on loan from Carl Kiekhaefer for this race.

Val, a few years ago you wrote a description of the start and first lap of a marathon that is really great. I liked it so much I saved it on my computer.
