I have never seen a picture that could do this wreck justice. It was spectacular, to put it mildly. I was in the first turn. There were several boats envolved. One driver was headed for the center bouy, I won't try to remember who. Benny Aylor and I went by Freddies room that night and I have never seen anyone so soar. I think that was the last time I saw Freddie.

Welcome Denny. Do you remember who this is? It was the last race we held at Barbon on Lake Corpus Christi in 1977.

Wayne,

Was that boat a Marchetti? I know that they were playing around with a cutout in the nose like that back then. Looks like a lot of "air" time.

Dan,

I don't know. Will try to look through some pit shots. It is very distinctive so somebody should know. Looks like the Marchetti wing on the cowling though.

It is a Marchetti. I used to have a 350cc boat like that.

Once owned by Doug Thompson.

It was named Ginny II, after Pat Marchetti's Wife. Here it has a 250cc FA Konig on the back. The boat was WAY TOO BIG, and I was WAY TOO HEAVY for that lil' fella. I had just blown my 300cc Simon engine so bad, I was dumping pieces of piston out of the pipes when I took them off.

Here is an additional photo of Fred's boat afterwards. A boat from California that got caught up (C-2 I believe) and a boat from Texas.

Wayne, I think this is Howard Henson. He only raced for about a year, was a pilot for AA. One of Jim M.s friends.

Yeah that rings a bell Denny. Pilots usually don't blow over though.
