You can make your own class. I just talked to some guys in Detroit who run their kids with a Briggs on a J Hydro...and have fun....Seems it would be fun to find out how fast they go...

Well then, Briggs makes a vertical shaft single for lawn tractor racing based from the same block they use for the JR. Dragsters. It uses the same mounts as their lawn mower engines, puts out 23 HP, and turns 11,000 RPM. Full roller motor,
overhead valves. I'm betting if a person could adapt that to the OMC A lower it might give allot of good stock motors a heck of a run!
They used to run about $4,900, and there was not a Peerless tranny that would last more than a night with one of them hooked up....

Here's one i found a pic of a couple of years ago. I believe they said it belonged to Tad Olson.

.................................................. .................................................. ................................ $4900 ? you just KILLED it , before even getting started . For starters , (rank beginners ) something cheap is necessary. A whole ready to race rig for 2-3000 bucks . Why do you think the apba membership is so low , compared to 30 years ago ? M O N E Y ! To me, it seems that those with a lot of money make the rules .

Roy:
But think of the sound! LOL That's what I cannot understand....Jr. Dragster, and entry level drag car, engine, chassis, and trailer $20K, plus NHRA membership....
Boat, motor, trailer, well under $10,000
And Blizzard, that Lawn Boy on it's best day could turn 4500 RPM, only put out 4-5HP. Probably will run forever. I still have the Lawnboy mower dad bought from the boathouse in 1958. Starts in 2 pulls....

Yeah i know it's just kinda neat. But a waste of a brand new 25/44xs mid though.

Any Briggs would be fine, but it would be Division II, as the Briggs I'm asking about is that $499 outboard on a J Hydro....
What is the price on the APBA mid section?

I wouldn't worry about the "waste" of that mid. Olson Aluminum had quite a bit to do with their being manufactured. Yes, Tad is part of Olson aluminum.

You want to talk Briggs and Stratton?
Talk to Stan Long here in Quincy. He builds some of the best 4 stroke Kart engines in the country. Calls them "Stanley Steamers".
Stan was a frequent visitor to 5th & State during the 2 stroke Kart days. We all enjoyed talking with Stanley, Especially Chris and Paul, He's a top notch guy.

The flywheel also functions as a built in fan that cools the motor.
