My Rotax powered 350 cch . Mod. 354 Rotax snowmobile motor on gasoline. Older A&H D stock , stretched 10" on the afterplane from 76" to
86" . Best speed , 94.1 mph at Cullaby Lake Oregon , then the upper pipe broke and fell off , hit the wheel on the way by and sank . Haven't been able to find it in 3 years and haven't run anywhere near that since . Will

I run them on gasoline at 40:1 with 1 oz. of booster per gal. The pipe is a stock Rotax pipe . Didn't know exactly which one till a week ago and was buying the wrong ones . The one I lost was a 78-79 6500-7500 Blizzard RV TnT . I've been trying to run later 7500 Blizzard pipes which don't work real well and the rather funky Bosch ignition is a sort of fit giver as well .
As far as I know this motor is dead stock , run as it came out of the box from Ebay . The Polaris isn't quite as fast but has been almost bullet proof this year . 0 DNF and only 1 DNS . Got faster over the year winding up at close to 80 at Lawrence with me in it . The clutch works too .

Will, I certainly can believe that your 350 went 90mph+, but beware of GPS readings. Joe Johnston can verify that my GPS registered 150mph this summer at the PRO Nationals. Pretty good for a 2-cylinder 250 VRP.

YOWEEEEE ! Now that is fast for a 250 .
The story on mine : I'd stretched out over the winter and from race one it was HORRIBLE . Would only run about 65 and in the turn made a series of hops through the turn . Every hop resulting in a "WWF" class body slam on my right side . Buy the time Cullaby came around , I was totally disgusted as well as black and blue in spots . Ran it on Sat and was so unhappy with it that
" If this thing can't do better than this ,I'm going to stop a Newberg on the way home and throw it on the burn pile ! " ( My very words ) It had some trap extensions on it that I pulled off and jacked it up 1/4" . Sunday,I got off the beach and when it got on plane and hooked up , it did the Brrrrrrrrrr
thing . I was about ready to come back to the pits( a 35mph boat in a 100 mph class just isn't safe even if it is " on plane " ) when it started to move .
It would fall off the pipe under 65 and I REALLY missed the start .
( 1/2 a lap) ( Add: ask me how a 50% jump feels when you're used to 60-65 . My "inner child" alternated between screams of delight and sheer terror the whole time ) At the finnish of the heat , I was 1/3 of a lap behind Bill Diamond and Lee Teitze ( those guys are fast ) On the way back to the pits , one of the pipes broke off , whanged the prop on the way by and sank . I've looked for it every year since with no success ( Even made a special trip )
You may get a "bad" GPS read at times but I think , for the most part , they're very accurate . Will
P.S. Think I've located a set of those pipes . Now if I can find a replacement for that filthy Bosch ignition ...............................

This is the clutch on the mighty Polaris . The clutch came from Hilliard corp. in Elmira N.Y. 1" thick and 4" DIA. The drum is a Rotax Can-Am 250cc flywheel with a custom hub . The driveshaft is pinned in the hub with a 12mm square to accept a Yamato coupler . The drum "floats" in the big hole in the housing , in a bearing with a snap ring to hold it in place . There are 2 holes
drilled in the drum opposite the pickup flats( for the ignition ) on the drum to vent it . Engagement speed is about 3000 rpm. 4000 would be better .
( Doable, I think ) Lots of rotating weight but worth the loss .
Any questions ? Will

I saw that!...I was just a few yards away getting our barn door out for testing and wearing the rubber stove (Chest waders) and I got a good laugh from that.
Overall, I'd say ours have been pretty accurate. The Display's too small to read under power, but that's fine by me. I'm more interested in a top end recording than actually knowing on the fly...Don't really want to know actually... and exciting things happen too fast out there to give away time squinting at a tiny display.
Mostly we can get a quick read on what a change does to the boat in testing, and what sort of top end we're squeezing in a heat. I think the only time I ever used my GPS to hone the boats edge was at kilos a few years ago when I was using it in repeated practice runs at the trap entrance to set up the distance needed to be at top speed on entry. And in the end the GPS speed at the trap entrance matched my kilo speed perfectly.
