p28 renegade

it was a gorgeous weekend with a nice breese and it never got to 100 deg at the usually hi temp event. 5 teams came ready to do battle. the battle started friday nite as the team 28 removed the right bank head to repair a stipped head bolt hole. the task was handled easily by rich rucki and ej abner and the 28 fired up at around 830pm signifying it readyness.
saturday's line up had p9 with shatz/shatz p28 with julian rucki/mike biglow p13 with mitch gaspar and ej abner 66p dwight moody jr and bob overcashe and p111 with rich rucki and bob williams.
1st heat had the 9/66 having a good 5 lap battle, p111 had a lock on 3rd and p13 was able to power by the 28 on the shutes and 28 came in 5th. p28 tried a prop on loan from p30 team and it had to much transom lift for the p28.
2nd heat p28 went to the go to prop. at the start it was 4 wide the 66/9 took off with 111 a boat length behind them and the p28 a length behind the 111 and 13 right on 28's tail. down the back shute the 13/28 were side by side getting ready to encounter turn 2. and there it was a large splash right behind the p9. 66p completed a 360 barrel roll. race was stopped. both dwight and bob were ok. one of the rescue personal gave bob the "your ok" after some words muttered from bobs mouth to the effect of "i'm to old for this s*#&.". the final will be run sunday am.
saturday nite had the p9 and p28 teams doing a co-op bbq and fed all cracker teams and some of the outboard teams came over and joined the festivities. it was another good evening of story telling and comradery.
the sat final was rerun sunday am. all 4 boats mde a strong start, but the p9 again showing its big muscle prooved to be the boat to chase all weekend.
p111 looking stong in the turns is down on shute speed, i'm suspecting a cam timing change is forthcoming for long beach. p28/p13 battled for 2 laps , then p13 big power out legged the p28. finish p9.p111.p13,p28
mitch is showing great strides in driving improovement each heat. once he catches up to his boats potential, watch out.
after a nite of soreness set in, the 66p team scratched for sunday. p28 had a driver change and in heat 2 a rider change, jack biglow took the wheel for sundays event and ej abner took riding duties for heat 2 and chris hager took his seat back in the p13. all other teams were the same.
both heats were pretty much the same. p9 showing some very fast speed and could be the top contender for long beach. boat is looking the best it ever has. p111 2nd and looking for the lost shute speed. p13 driving better and better was solid in 3rd both heats and the p28 was 4th both heats.
a good weekend for all. p111 is headed home to get prepared for long beach. we hope dwight is healed up for long beach, for some one needs to give the p9 a run for the money.
see you al in long beach:cool:
