Ron,
that sure looks like a Schiada flatbottom! they were very good boats in their day!
Ya, and George T. should see that picture! It could be his old boat! Anyone know who drove #67? George is one of our Nostalgia racers with a Schiada found on Ebay.

"When Inboards could beat outboards?" I take it you've never been to the drags before... :) Remember when they used to pair up a K and a Mod U or champ boat? Good stuff!
Endurance goes to the outboards hands down :( :D

In Endurance Racing... Talk about remember...Remember the old Long Beach Boat and Ski races at Long Beach when we ran outboards and inboards together? First we qualified, then heat races, semi main and main.
Those were cool races. The Mains were ten laps and us outboarders learned that Chevy engines didn't like water in their scoops....So, at the end of ten laps, the stadium would be so blue with blow engine smoke you could hardly see the checkered flag....
I got DQ'd one year, (for cutting an outboard off)...they half disqualified me, moved me to first outboard, from third....
Oh well, fun times!!!

Does Anybody remember my Dad, Gean Keen who was owner/driver of KEEN MACHINE II, killed the day before mothers day at Lake Ming, Calif., 1967, trying to break his own unblown flatbottom fuel record?

That red/white checkerboard Schiada #57 is Bill Dunsmore. The boat was named Instantly.

10 years ago I was told inboard needed about 700hp to beat a Merc turning 9000 rpm in quarter mile drag race.
