Here's a couple of major hang time shots. The second one is Ken Dryden in the 4-point Elam, Seattle about 94-95. It is on the way back down - didn't actually flip. I was reading the paper when it starting to go, and had time to turn on the camera and get this shot.

The top photo is Mark Tate's moon shot in the Seattle in 1993. He was leading Chip Hanauer (the roostertail below him) in the final, packing way too much air.

I'll post some Limiteds next week.

I`ve watched Steve David race since the early 70`s. One of the neatest stories he ever told me was when he was racing Mark Tate in the U-boats. Steve was on the outside, and the 2 of them were neck & neck coming out of a turn. Steve said he glanced at his gauges, then checked his right mirror, and then looked back to his left for Mark. Mark was not there. He was not in front, nor behind. Steve then looked again to his left and up. Mark was upside down and about 15 feet in the air and was looking back at Steve.

The Champboat races in Toledo, OH last year were wet and miserable. During the downtime, I was trying to take as many dock side shots as possible. When I took a few minutes to get out of the rain and stand under an awning of the river side restaurant, I noticed the man sitting at the table beside me...and suddenly realized who it was! CLICK!

Apparently, Mark Tate likes to watch Champboat racing :)
