Welllll - let's see what we've got. Not a dump, but a kick-save and a good one. The ageless Gill Allen and the slightly less ageless Norm Boddie dueling in FER at Newberg in 2003. I hope the facial expressions show up - they make the shot. Ironically, in the following heat, Norm dumped at the infamous front chute roller.

Like I mentioned in a previous thread, we get to race at Lake Lawrence with the Limiteds in addition to the traditional outboard record race in September. In fact, we'll be there this weekend. In another shot from 2003, Mike Perman is leading J Michael Kelly and Jonathan Nilsen. When we sent the boats out, a storm cell dropped in with gusting winds - several of us on the beach got the "Oh-Oh" feeling. Sure enough, Mikey Perman gave the Inboard guys an aerial that they would have a hard time matching. In the first shot, Mike is in a tail stand. While it looks like he is trying to get the boat back down, confidential sources tell me he was just hanging on. The second shot shows the same gust catching Kelly and Nilsen, as hug the wheel.

As the boat comes down, Kelly is back on the water and heading outside. Nilsen is still riding the bronco and figuring out how he's going to get through. In the last photo, Nilsen has the boat under enough control to avoid Perman in the water. Mike just got wet - no injuries. This was our first year, running Mike Jone's old Dartcraft - Ryan is back there in the spray enjoying the feel of air actually flowing under the boat and watching the show. The next day, Fast Freddy Schmidt showed up in Gleason's Bezoats (formerly Bittu Spedding's National Champ) and smoked these guys. We bought that boat 3 months later and spent last year not smoking anybody. :o
