I've had more than person tell me that right handed wheels are ( all things being equal ) faster than left handed wheels . The only possible explanation that I can think of is the Coreolis effect. ( Pull the plug on the sink and the water has a natual inclination to spin to the right , south of the equator , it spins to the left ) Can this be correct ? Will

Will, Will, Will...
Things that make you say "Hmmmmmm?" If true, than left hand props would be faster in the Southern Hemisphere. So, all we have to do is test both types of props in each hemisphere and compare the data.

Knowing Will, he'll head to South America to test this theory..
My advice, well, the clutch works. Maybe one blade right hand rotation and two lefts, you could go forward and backward!!!! (At the same time).
In theory a one blade would be fastest, but usually you lose all your fillings out of your teeth before you can prove it!!!
I do believe that a left hand wheel turns the corners better in an outboard, but seem to think right hand turn better on inboards...

Australia would be a better choice . Closer to the same latitude . Have to win Lottery first .

The clutch does work . Could be better with more engagement speed and or carb work . Vacillation or oscillation ? Sounds like my personal life lately.

Don't have any fillings and not many teeth so I'm your boy . Might be real tough on lower units and strut bearings though .

That's a "torque steer " thing . The prop torque makes the motor want to turn on an outboard . ( LH to the left , RH to the right ) On a fixed shaft set up , torque is transmitted to the boat that makes it want to act in an opposite manner . ( LH to the right , RH to the left )
Any really cheap houses down around there ? ( LOL ) Will

Don't know how to spell OXYMORON...but think that is one..
I bought the "TEAR DOWN" next door for $650,000 and most think I got a bargain..
Jimbo told me Needles has affordable housing...
Near, the California/Nevada border, where I PLAn the Boat Racing Museum...
Only trouble with these theories, Lance Haselrig, runs LEFT HAND ROTATION on his GN, and besides winning the Mink Coat four or five years in a row in Idaho, he's the winningest GN drvier racing, and he goes around the corners like he was on rails!!!!
I always try to "COACH" my other GN customers, say watch Lance....He never loses speed in the corners...
Let me know when you are going south to tst, I'll go with you!!!

Ron - Back in the days of working for Douglas Marine I know some of the boat owners used to play around with switching their Rotation of their wheels from port and starboard sides to see if they could get any better handling or speed out of their rigs.My ? to you is, did you used to try this on the twin engine boats you raced and if so why does it seem to work on some boats better than others? Thanks!

On Vee Hulls, I found right on the right and left on the left. On tunnel hulls I found left on the right...
On a Vee hull half of the prop is behind the Vee... as we found, we had to plug all the inside water holes or our engines got hot... A right hand prop or the right side, cuts into solid water, results for us were more speed and more bow lift...
Left hand, is cutting into solid water, too as the water breaks off the bottom...
On a tunnel, we found the left hand wheel was getting cleaner water off the straight side of the tunnel wall, which gave us more speed, better controll...
Keep in mind, all these test were done years ago, before four and five blade props, before the Number Six drive for Offshore.....
O.F. Christener said he was "Just a welder"... I consider myself an "BLACK SMITH"... Hammer on stuff and test....and don't listen to anyone...keep your own records...Once we figured out things, usually, we could go backward and say, "Oh, I'll bet this is why that is faster."
