Rod Walk Home Destroyed by Fire

I just received this information in a e-mail this morning 1/17/2007. Rod is a long time ex-PRO Racer and has lived in DePue IL all his life. Rod and Rose are good people, help out if you can.

Home of Rod and Rose Walk Destroyed by Fire

A major fire burned through the house of Depue residents and long time boat racers Rod and Rose Walk on January 15, 2007. The fire apparently started in the electrical box located in the basement of the house. Rod was home at the time the fire was discovered., however, he is currently recovering from a broken bones in both feet which leaves him with very limited mobility at best. Fortunately, Rod’s son, Gabe, stopped by to see Rod and it was at that time the two smelled smoke. Gabe searched and found a fire in the basement then hurried to assist Rod to exit the house. The fire spread rapidly and the house was totally destroyed. Rod and Gabe are fine, Rose was at work at the time.

A fund has been established to help Rod and Rose until insurance can be settled. Donations can be sent to:
