Great photos Lars. Brings back memories of some great racers from those days. I was fortunate to meet Cees at Karlshaven on the Weser River, and later party into the night with him and a bunch of others at Linz on the Danube, And also meet and get some photos of Roger Jenkins at Berlin at a reace when you snuck into Dieters to pick up your Volvo Konig motor then headed north with your boat to rig it up and test for a very successful year.
"The Italian Mastro".....Renato Molinari is resting at the rear of his Martini/ Molinari-Evinrude boat before the race..

The F-1 V8 series Rescue Craft..made possible by sponsorship from OMC Sea Drive and Carlsberg beer..
Thanks Lars.....Your posts are really fun. What happened to the 80's?? Huh???
What do you think would have happened if they ran the V-8 on a hydro? Seems hydros skid in the corners, racing may have been more interesting. The problem with the V-8 circuit was that no one realized how many would die driving these things. And two, the races were BORING....There was little or no passing....
Anyway, love your posts......I missed Eric at the Fred Hall Boat Show..he was fun to work with.......His spirit was with me though!
Yes Ron..sadly there was lots of drivers losing their life in boat racing without
safety cockpits back then..
That was the only reason I gave up my F1-V8 ride to Bertil Wik 1985.
Well.. lots of passing in the series (check the video above)..just hard to pass # 18 Renato Molinari..:):)
For me a fun photo..the last race in my own Burgess Evinrude V-8.
The sponsor was...Lasse Ström Marin.. the worlds largest Evinrude dealer..:)
Drove the Belgium GP a few weeks later in a brand new Velden boat with a safety cockpit..
No picture...get..
To all my American friends reading here.. You have to take the time to watch this video..then you know why Swedes are the way we are.. :):):)

All the photos are long shaft V8's.
Did you ever race with the later very short shaft version?
Yes..in a few race 1985...No speed change..but that powerhead had fuel injection..and the boat handle little better.
