Hi I know this is kinda an old thread, sorry I haven't been able to get any other pictures of the motor but I really appreciate the help. I'm heading home this Friday for Christmas break and will be able to get what ever you guys need to figure it out. How do you tell the difference between the 52ci and the 59ci? I had always thought I had a 52 because mine was a 97 and people usually talk about the 59's starting in 98. However I when I was looking for a repair manual I stumbled on this https://www.manualslib.com/manual/11...40.html#manual which if you go based on the serial number range would make mine a 59?

If the coil wires go to a box on the side it’s a 52” if it has 3 individual coil packs (cdms) right next to the plugs it’s a 59”

Thank you for all the help this far I attached some pictures of the motor but it looks like the coils all have their own box which would make it a 59ci? Attachment 69339

Here’s the other couple pictures, I was having trouble uploading them. Let me know if there is anything else I can look at to verify it’s a 59”

That is without a doubt a 59"

Wonderful, thank you for all the help! Are 60hp carbs, new reeds, reed stop and reed plate the place to start for the most gain on it?
-
No need for the whole reed plate, just carbs and 50/60 reed retainers. From there you can have the flywheel lightened, a tuner made, intake/reed plate modified and port work.

Thats the wrong tiller handle for it, looks like a tiller off a smaller engine like 25-30hp.
