A 'F' (?) DeSilva cab over that ran at the Rideau Ferry Yacht Club Vintage Regatta in ON in '07.
Joe White, a boat builder from MI or mid west in the 70s.
Tried searching for him on here but too many hits on 'white'.
Could this be one of his C/D runabouts?
Well built, simple, round chines...
YES, I meant to say Don,
My apologies.

I was thinkng of Marshall Eldridge, so went out to
the shop to look at one of his lower units, 1970s?, that I got from him maybe 20yrs back.
It was obviously intended for a Merc mod, on a Merc...
At our recent Rideau Ferry VINTAGE meet in Eastern ON, we had a few Konigs on display and a discussion ensued regarding the Konig factory.
I have always thought that post 1950 it was in East...
I think you meant to say; ' square on one end, six side on the other',
so a 1/2" drive/six point 1/2" socket would fit.
I wonder if the black impact sockets would be better for this,
than the...
I have a parts box here with a FA69 in it, but with a block with reed valves and 3rd ports. I did not think these FAs appeared until the late 70s???
Thanx; -it has not run since Sydenham ON ~2000.
Looking for CZ-1 to come out again?
Who was that tall guy in the cockpit?
Maybe a grudge match in Gravenhurst,
if they race there next year?
Nice work;
-I finally reskinned my DeSilva /Speeditwin CSerR and showed it at our local show last month. The motor is a Stan McDonald.
Will get some closer pix.
Q? -my SR39 has a bronze...
Mr. Bob;
-maybe its in a previous post, but could you
quickly explain your insane avater ;)
-looks like a 99" 6 ???
-a Merc dingy?
-what size/type??
A;
-is that boat your 'old' Apel???
-what does that threaded dowel do?[must be the prop shaft, level with bottom?]
-why bother with a 'fishing mid', just cut some plate
-I wonder how stiff it is...
Scan it???
it is 1 meter x 1.3 meter
-side views and top view
I guess a map office could do it
I will ask around.
last time I worked in a design office, ~'70s,
we did blue prints off the...
I have a set, NOS, but not sure if the type you want.
Did he not do more than one run for the FEH racers?
Best ask him what I have.
They are #9886P2, 3.020", 2 ring, flat top, small pin?
I...
Four Phelon coils were used in some Konig VCs,
and probably the VBs and VDs also.
I believe that coil is NLA ?
Outside of NA, Phelon is known as REPCO,
ie; the R.E.Phelon Co.
Jack Brabham...
This is a recent pic one of the three Schultz (had?)
built in NJ in '61. All three stayed in NA.
They were about 11" long.
-many of the pix in the 50-100 range feature a kneel down inboard 3pt hydro powered by a 2 stroke triple. Looks like the east German car motor? [Wartburg?]
Surprised they van get any signifivant hp...
Explain that sail boat rigging to me.
Negate torque steer:confused:
What do u do with the free end of the line in the cockpit?
You have good taste in 'green' motors
Thought 1st that big one...
The 3rd bike, closet to the wall, is facing the other way, and u are looking at the rear swing arm.
But this 'flat four' motor was/is popular in side car racing, where the Earles type fork is...
Lots of big venturis on the front of this one:eek:
Can not quite make out the number//:confused:
Seems to have 'woken up' this '45' .....
Big fat pipe too ...///
God only knows what...
That is the lower unit[x2] I have, tail loaders, the 1st Yamato PRO unit, precedes the hatchet. It is commonly mistaken for an Eldridge, and vice-versa.
I have adds showing it and the hatchet...
I have had a early Yamato PRO tower/clamp assembly
under the bench for years, and recently went to put a Yamato PRO unit on it, and was surprised to find it does not even come close to mounting...
A recent Yamaha catalog lists the CR of each cylinder in their triples.
They vary, I suspect due to the nuances of common exhaust manifold pulse tuning. The 70" triple lists CRs of 5.76, 5.67,...
Cheyney, that 45deg elbow from the '59 Oldsmobile 98 will be hard to find these days;)
This is a 497 set up as a FEH with very nicely engineered triple expansion chambers. It ran quite well in Reg-2 about ten years ago. However with the advent of the Runne 'pulse' tuned system, it was...
A single that Ted had.
I found the floppy that I used on that visit to Ted Miller's shop.
Looks like it was the spring of 2004
Here is the two cylinder 'Z' that was there,
a 250 I presume.
These are two pix of Stu Mill's [Windsor, ON] 125 'Z' as displayed at the OF Christner Memorial in 2003.
Sorry, no bottom pix, but if I recall it was a '4pt tunnel'.
Don Saulsbury, western NY runs it now with a 4-60.
Tim; -is this one of the 'DELTA IIs' ?
I think you were trying to sell it to me that day ;)
Tim; -while we are on radical DeSilva designs, what is this,
a hydro or runabout, legal?, apparently called a "wedge"?.
[QUOTE=inshoreracing;62276]Hi,
where have you find the selva engine in germany?
Sorry, i can not find my reference to that site, although it is current. Looks like a commercial dealership, so...
McCrea was well known in the NE and eastern Canada in the late '40s, early 50s. His plan catalog included a full line of boats from small rowing skiffs to inboard and o/b racers. The catalog I had...
This purported back door[skunk works] M5HA 'Special' was displayed at Tomahawk recently. An alky motor with open exhaust. Maybe an attempt at a Class 'M' motor as that alky class was still active at...
This SELVA 850 for sale on a German web site
Some resemblance to a Mod50
What are they derived from?
Nice job John ! The alky Carter carbs, with the overflow mod to the float bowl for alky. Was there any concensus on how high to set the fuel level? I have three here, all at different heights....
The ASH and CSHs enjoyed the rollers coming across the course from the passing cruisers.;)
This DCH was doing well until it blew over coming off a big one.
The inboards, like this 7 litre,...
A few pix of Bud Clarke's DeSilva FSH.
Bob; It was a good 'gathering' , great weather, although the bay we ran on was rough for the o/b's, , though better than running over logs on the Suwannee in FL.
Bud made the most noise with...
Jeff; -it was sure good to see you at a race in Canada, however it was not the Cdn. 'Nats', but a Vintage o/b & i/b show , as well as some o/b racing. To encourage the old stuff to participate ,...
The Johnson in the first pic has a SR-38/39 lower unit.
These[rare] units were made with a double pinion bearing, as is obvious by the long vertical bulge above the cav plate. Without bore dims,...
As the boats got bigger and faster, we thought we could keep the nose down by creating more lift at the transom.
So some copied what Hubbell had done much earlier with his 'B' Wildcat stacks and...
I have not studied the APBA mod rules recently, but in most classes below D they limit [specify] the type of gear case one may use. Many of us have lobbyed for years to allow all mods to use any...
OSY, or at least what we call OSY in NA, runs Yamato 102/302 motors. The Y80 is an older stock class. Dianne Murray, N6, Long Island NY,
OSY High Point 1999 & 2001, runs a Giles.
So Bill was...
The last pic in round six, M86, MadDog, was a NEW 350PRO Schumaker. Almost identical to his
'80s record breaking 500 boat. Lowell was also in the pits. Great location for a race. First time we have...
There must be a number of 500 and 700cc m/c's out there, as Konny in CZ [<www.konny.cz>] is producing parts for them. Here is the ignition page. I hear the Phelon[?] coil used in the VC
is NLA.

[QUOTE=RonHill]Ron Jones would know, but I think all the Cab Overs that had fiberglass cowling were Ron Jones built.... Maybe, but over here the 'expurts' tell me the fibreglass cowls were a TED...
Never did get this boat to a big meet, like Constantine or Clayton, but have been getting some time in on the water using a 40" stock motor. With a 150# driver, the boat airs out nicely, and drives...
I have not seen this boat in person, but sure looks like an OEM Ted Jones to me, bigger than my 'D',
so the 'F' probably.
It was owned by Bill Swift, but no idea where it is now.
