Yes, Mike Raich was the fast D ..... he set records at both Devils Lake, Lincoln City, Oregon... and Lawrence Lake, Yelm, Washington. He was fast for many years. Then Tom O’Neil with a short sponson...
Well there you go... Thanks Ron.
However I do know there were Catamarans prior to that, and I think they were the precursor to tunnel boats.
Then the next question is what would have been the...
All the best Wayne, from me and the entire boat racing family.
Hello stingray240cs,
That is quite a nice collection..... Very cool.
Who makes your 4 Blade Propellers?
Now, that is some cool racing.
How fast do they go?
Very cool.... What boat builder and / or designs are you guys running? It’s great to see boat racing around the world.
Keep us informed about your racing. Are you associated with UIM?
Very cool stuff... lots of history here.
Cool...............
Cool... memories..... I did not go to Hinton in 1969, but I did go in 1976.
Cool stuff Dale.... give me a call sometime.
Hello Dale,
Great to see this from you....I remember it all.
Give me a call.....425-503-1882.
Regards, Dean Hobart...............
Yes, sure glad everyone was ok.
Zack,
Try Sea Way Marine... 425-412-4006.... ask for Dave Losvar... his direct number is: 425-412-5914. They specialize in all old outboard motors and parts. They should be able to help you.
How was the anchor involved?
On the APBA.org web site... go to Resources.... then click on the 2019 Stock Outboard Technical Manual... then starting on page 35 are the 45 SS motor specs.
The APBA web site is somewhat...
Curious.... how did your helmet scratch somebody’s anchor?
Good, I agree with that.
See..... I told you so!!!
Ron Hill will most likely know the answer to this.
Call Dick O’Dea at 973-278-0614... he is the one who imported them... He lives in New Jersey.
As if I recall, the shim/bushing was used but did not have the flange with the holes. We drilled two holes in the front of the prop to engage the adapter with the pins.
Still won’t open... whatever.
They will not open for me... FYI.
The bottom boat is launched with the tandem axel trailer..... only the bottom boat is on a dolly.
Take a look at my avatar picture of a double decker trailer for two SST45 Tunnel Boats. The bottom boat is on a pit dolly that can be moved by hand, then the top boat swivels down so it can be...
Really nice... Thanks USTS... You are the greatest.
Now there’s some racing history ..... all major names in our sport...... cool picture.
If you are going to race in APBA or NBRA I think you must run the Stock reeds. Otherwise, try Boysen reeds... they might make reeds for the Y80... or send them a set and they could most likely make...
What do you mean by ‘duel’? Do you mean two sets of cables so if one breaks there is a backup?
What is the compression ratio of those motors? Going from 87 to 96 would not improve your performance I do not feel. Also, 33:1 oil ratio seems a little lean on oil. Do those motors have rod and...
Wow.... Looks brand new. Really cool.
Post some pictures. Sounds like a cool find...congratulations.
Make sure the fuel systems have been cleaned out because if they weren’t after the last time they were run, the fuel system and possibly the bearings and rings are ‘gummed up’..... just a heads up.
...
Those look like C Service or the old C Racing motors. The trailer fenders suggest the trailer was built in the 1950’s.
Really cool looking nostalgic Outboard equipment. Great find. Looks like you...
Cool picture of Gerry ‘Fantum’ Walin in the kilos, with the Jim Hallum Anzani motor.
Contact Sea-Way Marine... talk to Dave Losvar..... you can get their number online.
It’s Amazing that I can recognize many of the names from 1955.
Yes very cool. Also, J. (Jerry) Bryant of Seattle, one of the founders of Seattle Outboard Association, and 1929 was the founding year of Seattle Outboard Association (SOA).
Rob,
Many E Hydro outfits have the 45 SS gear case on them. On an E I would not recommend a lighter unit.
The 45SS gearcase has a water pump and is available from Sea-Way Marine..... seawaymarine.com and the phone number is there. Talk to Dave Losvar.
Did anyone ever use a Hasselblad?
Ron,
Did you ask Fred Hauenstein?
There is always a possibility of flipping at all speeds of racing.
Now that is some cool history. Thanks...
Cool history... thanks for sharing.
Mine should come today... Look forward to reading it... Thanks Dudley.
That must have started the notion of Winter Nationals. I think about that same time frame the Stocks had a Winter Nationals at Firebird Lake in Arizona.
Ron,
My plan did work. We left Puddingstone about 12:30 and were in San Diego by 2:15..... Don't know where you got your information. I saw the Hedlund's..... Spent all afternoon talking Boat...
Is that one of the boats that was a part of the Doc Collins fleet in California?
