That thing is sick.
Freaking incredible, curious what the price tag is if someone wanted to hire you to build this turn key motor?
That is insane, welder, machinist now woodworker?? come on, there isn't much you can't do.
Dam you're a genius :) You are a very rare breed, there just isn't that many that skilled around like you.
I check email and am notified of another post and I'm like whats the mad scientist posting now can't wait to see and read all about it. :) Keep up with the great work, I'm enjoying the heck out of...
Your dad is still with you right now on this build don't forget that, he's looking down saying thats my boy.

The thread on screamandfly really is a great thread. You should check it out.
With my jack plate jacked all the way up I need more pitch this 13 pitch isn't enough but not gonna buy another prop because the jack plate needs to be redrilled so i can jack it up higher.
A tuner being longer then what the sst 60 specs call for do you really loose that much top end?
Dam sounds like worse gas then what we have. I to have a huge battery, I ended up going with a Optima there heavy but I have no problem with starting.
Honestly, I don't see the difference in gas milage from the TLDI and the 40 hp mercury that is a 2 stroke carb motor. I have a friend with one and it gets just as good of gas milage as mine. I bet...
Being in the Netherlands i don't understand why you didn't buy the carburetor version of the TLDI. If it wasn't for our dam EPA laws I would buy one in a heart beat.
Sure I can buy a used 2 stroke...
I emailed Tohatsu here in the USA and the guy told me that the 40, 50 TLDI computers are different, he said taking that restrictor plate out the 40 will make the motor run lean and can cause damage...
you can look up ethanol free gas stations and that will give you a list in your state or nearest to your town that sell ethanol free gas. I sure hope i can continue to get it because if not i may...
That is truly aluminum art :)
crowleymarine.com is a good source for parts, I've ordered from them simply because seaway is just so far away from me and shipping is a lot more because of that. Crowleymarine.com is in Colorado so...
Sad Sad, go to youtube and type in srg boat racing and you can see Mr White run his boat and he's no slouch, he knows what he 's talking about, I have seen that boat of his run in person and man it's...
LOL you'll then have to raise the transom height as well so you don't have water coming in over the transom with the added weight.
I think mine is rated for a 150hp motor and have seen plenty of 150 motor bolted to it without a problem, only real concern is to put big enough washers on the inside so it won't pull through the...
You really don't even need a tig welder to build a jack plate all it if is some angle aluminum and some bolts.
Put a straight edge on the bottom your boat and you can see if you have any hooks and rockers instead of pouring money into props
I'm not sure if they do but you can take it to someone and have the pitch changed but I was told the pitch would only be changed at the tips of the blades, to truly change the pitch the blades would...
Put a tach on the motor you'll be surprised on what you're actually running and what you think you're running as far as rpms. I would work with the setup of that boat and motor, all these guys here...
BORING are you kidding? Heck no, keep it up man all I can say is WOW..... I mean I don't know what else to say. I had no idea man can create something like this from a block of aluminum.
Seen some guys on here fab up a bracket to run a stabilizer from the motor then to the transom of there boat, basically it's a chock/steering stabilizer off a car. One guy on here use a Benz...
Phill I guess you have a point there.
I have to agree with Jason/88workcar these people here know so freaking much it's not even funny, some more then others. Like fast fred said go experiment if you don't believe.
Sorry what I meant stock was I think he had said there is no performance mod to increase horse power to the powerhead itself but yes that lower unit I guess is considered a performance mod.
Here's...
no not 70 this guy is running a little over 82 mph. Do a search on here and you will see more pictures of that 13foot biel and that motor is actually a stock 130 yamaha.
This is a good video but you have to turn your head or laptop side ways http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIXvi33I0o8 he is running a nose cone and actually has a piece of tubing on the transom to suck...
Good drawing Jeff I thought how could I do this but I have a hard enough time just posting a picture.
In the picture my water line is about where the yellow line is or I should say the bottom of the boat is where the yellow line is, now I'm running a hi-jacker jack plate with 6 inches of setback....
oh no, not at all
[QUOTE=phillnjack;127952]about how long they normally last is probably due to how many hours you run.
now in the uk most boats are used in salt water, and its not the nice clear warm stuff you se in...
Thanks guy it's just nice to know about the avgas and other gasolines just in case i may have a problem, nothing wrong with just simply wanting to know.
Thanks
Chris
I think that is what I read on here some where was heating the block back up and dropping them in but like you said they have to go in a certain way, I have no clue how. Really is very cool that they...
I was quoted like like 200 per hole if I needed sleeves and I think people on here have talked about get your wife out the house and put it in the oven and heat it up to 350 and the sleeves come out.
Bill,
Glen Hopkins is about 6 miles from me I plan on going and seeing him this week to talk about some things. I've bought one prop for my fishing motor from him already and yes he knows a lot....
Bill I have read a lot of the mod 50 sticky and yes it is a dam good read. This motor is a carb motor and sure it has no knock sensor to it. I have been to the races in Bogalusa and raced once there,...
Same here David to find the racing gas I would have to drive probably another 45 miles while the little airport is so much closer. Seems like i keep reading about this people putting it in there...
Thank you Bill,
I just spent about the last hour trying to dig up what ever I can find about avgas and seems a lot was just the normal bad old rumors about it but most what I read was good. Down...
I understand the reason for high octane race gas is when you have so much compression well you need that higher octane to start the motor and to run right. VP racing fuel has so many different names...
That just blows my mind what people can make just amazing the quality, thanks for sharing.
absolutely awsome work
I don't remember where but seems like someone had told me that the 86-87 56 had the bridge ports and I thought this person said these years didn't have the hole that the 1988 had it but don't hold me...
I don't believe it does.
I didn't know you could weld those holes up, I had heard it would have to be re-sleeved and that if you had a later year 56 that you could re-sleeve it to a bridge port if you wanted. I lucked out...
Thanks, thats pretty cool, I'm glad it worked out for ya.
I can go to the page but the video won't play some reason. Only thing I can figure it's something to do with this Mac I have that won't let me view it.
am i the only one that can't watch youtube videos or is youtube on the frits?
