Thank you for confirming that.. and welcome! I hope your dad is well and I hope you can share some of his racing pictures and stories.
My dad was #328 and he remembers your Dad. I might have some...

In this scan of the 1978 rule book, in the OPC marathon section, you can see that Marshall Goldberg won Mod 50 in 1977. Shows at that time he lived in Memphis Tennesee.
No, I mean the full race stinger 100 ci V4, That would have been a UJ engine. The fact that the article says he ran in SJ confirms that the motor on the boat in the picture would have to be a stock...
Tom, do the race results you found indicate what class Marshall Goldberg was competing in? It appears to me that the motor in the picture is not a stinger, as the driver suit would suggest but a 125...

Here is the picture from SNF. I think this solves the mystery.
I am guessing that this suit belonged to Marshall Goldberg from Rhode Island. He had a picture of Daffy Duck on his boat.
I am making some connections and assumptions based on a picture I found on...
I saw this and had to have it, paid up for it big time......worth every penny.
I think the race group and some well connected drivers got these back in the day. Anyone know the history?68670
#438 is Ron Baker, must be from 1973 because he's running a 135. #128 Howard Pipkorn, 24 is Art Kennedy. I'd like to have some of the hardware in the OMC truck (as if I didn't have enough of it...
#332 is featured in the Baja SD-16T race brochure, There were a lot of them running at this time period. Super Stranglers and T2s were too much motor for that boat.67544
#1144 John Stochl (Dad ran this same Sid in 1975). The two #476 Harold Simberger, #477 Lynn Simberger (both Kitsons), #30 Art Kennedy, #391 Bill Travis (another Sid I believe), Great pics!
My dad had a Sid as well, a real Tank. It had the name "After you II" painted on the deck when he got it from Dick Ingebretsen, #185 in a pic earlier in this thread. Dick took second in UJ at St....
Thanks John, The results are on the first page of this thread.
Do you know anything about Art's boat in that picture? Is it actually a Molinari?
The pics of the driver's meeting are awesome, how did you get them.
I see dad there in the middle, near Art, Terry, Jimbo, Dick I, Howard P, Harold S, Duane T, Etc. I like the one with the OMC guys...
Beautiful action shots! #1994 is Larry Guimond if I'm not mistaken.
This last series looks like the Sport J's. In the last picture the blue boat #128 is Howard Pipkorn in a Hydrostream Puma. That is a great shot! I love it! Also another great picture of Jimbo...
Auglaize, Again, Just awesome and again thanks! hope you will PLEASE post more.
In the latest series, A great boat racer and great person, Art Kennedy (147) in his unusual looking hull which I was...
I like the one of the beach start, Dad is in that one (328), I also see the Rockford bunch in the same pic: Terry Leatherby (898), Duane Timm (245), and far left is Dick Ingebretsen (185).
My Dad was 3rd in UI behind Art Kennedy (pictured with Lou Eppel in the third picture in the previous post) and Clarence Archer. Terry Leatherby probably would have run second or third but he blew...
I don't know where I found this picture of Jimbo (apologies for not crediting the originator, I just think it should go here), but his motor is the same basic v4 early prototyped X115 with the stacks...

Mark, Great pic of Dad, Thanks! He was running Mod 90 class at the time. That boat was a Sid, sister boat of Schubert's #289 in the above post. Do you remember where the picture was taken?
If anyone has a spare issue of the April 1975 Propeller I would like to buy it.
It is the one with Carl Kiekhaefer, Ralph Evinrude, and Bob Nordskog on the cover.

This is a great pic by Sam Labanco of the MOD 90 Class that Mark Nelson sent me, Old Navy pier in the background. I can see Bill Richter Sr. behind the Blue Checkmate(?) that appears in the...

I found this poor quality image of an OMC press release on the Miami 225 marathon. Looks like it was a great battle between Jimbo and Scotti running X-115s. I am looking for any info...
Those are V6 carbs and some 140 v4s......Do you need some?
Don't forget Earl Bentz for Mercury, Jeff Brown for Evinrude, Bill Travis for Johnson...
I Can't believe I didn't see this before. I was at this Dayton race in 76' and the MOD 50 battle between Lee and Jimbo was the highlight of the day! It was basically a 2-boat race where Jimbo...
I was told that this #329 boat was driven by Frank Freeman in UJ class.
I don't know who drove this boat, but I thought I would post it here as it is definitely the same 1975 Chicago race as the previous posts.
Some more Sport J action shots. Ron Lamb is #13, Buddy Wright is #336, Terry Leatherby is in the Bass Pro shops boat and I don't know who #103 is.
Here is a pic of the Kramer hull (Rick Remley's #640 in the picture above) with Buddy Wright driving it in sport J.
Here are a few I found in a box of my dad's pictures. I am not sure where these were taken
Now I remember!!! Something triggered an epiphany.....Funny how the mind works. I was in the crash boat and took the picture. The driver is Gary Duncanson from Minnesota TCPBA.
I am not sure of...
Is HE Burgess on BRF? I was wondering if there was any chance we can peek under the hood of this motor?
I was greatly saddened to hear of the passing of Ziggy the other day. I fortunate to have worked with Ziggy on stern drive and Jet drive projects at OMC. He was a man of few words but, when he was...
Yep, the Seebold with Velden cowls that Jimbo ran at the '76 Nats in Dayton was one of these match racers. He won Mod 90 that day.
Here is an old Evinrude ad with some info on the match race.
This guy has an X-115, not the correct gearcase, however. Looks like the correct hood emblems, too bad he decided to repaint the hood red.

You are welcome. Here's another one of Terry running SJ class at Rockford, Illinois in the boat your dad built. I think this was in 1976. My dad is in the Hydrostream, #328 running MOD 90 at the...
Looks like a T2 or C6?
How about those crazy Bell-bottom pants. This one is from the 1974 Chrysler brochure.
Playing with the scanner today. This first one is from Mercury 1977 outboard brochure. More to come.
I rescanned the brochure pages from the earlier post for better resolution, and to get the full page.
Nice picture Kevin, thanks! How did Johnny Johnson do with that Chrysler?
Bill, you are right on the needles, I stand corrected. Michael's KR in the pictures has the correct (dark blue) color for the Evinrudes, Johnsons were a dark green.
Haven't been here much the...
Jimbo had one, put Molinari cowls on it and campaigned it as a Mod 50.........I believe it survived and someone in Canada has it.
115 to 120 was not possible with the clubfoot.
I remember watching this race on TV, nationally televised on wide world of sports.
Billy Schumacher was 1st,
Geoff Briggs was 2nd,
Roger Jenkins was 3rd,
Jimbo was somewhere in the pack?
Can...
Who is the owner of this "museum"? I see a rare 300 series stern drive in the background in one of the shots and it looks new.
They Prototyped the midsection from an omc race V4 (stinger/strangler) mid.
