the opa offshore racers have ventilation tubes coming down thru the cavitation plate to give the props some air during take off
32" are the long ones
23" is the short one

here is a better picture
- tiller mounted with three hole metal strip
- torque & damper brackets made with 6061-T6 aircraft aluminum mounted to wing plate bolts on sst60 adapter or powerhead bolts on std 56ci exhaust...
the flywheel, linkage, coils and fuel pump are interchangeable. another way to tell is the cylinder head is one piece on the 56ci. the tiller is an OMC tiller, not sure what year. I made an adaptor...
1.] sst60 lost foam block with aluminum head and webbing on exhaust side
2.] 88 permanent cast block with black head and no exhaust webbing
actually i cannot remember which one it was. this was back in the lat 80s. i do remember opening a few boxes at the auto store to find one that matched the diameter and depth for the 49ci omc.
i found an automotive one that fit the omc
120 degrees is to avoid salt buildup. prime temperature is hotter 180+
the 71 and less had the coils under the flywheel, the 72 did not, the 73 and on where the 10lbs flywheels. The old EP and FE rules called for the 10lbs flywheel. Mine work as i have raced with them...
mine weight 9 lbs.

needs to be 1 beam forward.
fred...here they are

thanks. there is only the powerhead for identification. the freeze plug did not have the model number on it. will check for the oval ports.
Does anyone know how to tell what year a block is by the serial number on the freeze plug. I would like to understand what year had the best block for mods and what year serial # G2579265 would be?
the 49 ci thermostat is 120 degrees. cold to reduce salt water damage. put an automotive 180 degree one in it.
is this the regulator you use in the picture?
kinkos can scan it.
prop shaft 1" below pad for v-bottom
thanks all for the info. will get some of that progear stuff. with the hull i am running, if i see another can of glue or MEK, i may lose some more if my mind.
Thanks for the feed back. The seller told me he used the hypoid stuff like the guys with the quickie gearcases... if is it good enough for them, it is good enough for the 60 case. I assumed he meant...
I bought oner of these... the owner said he ran mercury hypoid in it, the same stuff the sst120 guys use.
Does anyone know what was the factory reccommended lubricant for the sst60 gearcase?
...
thanks fred. do you think a holly red 5 psi fuel pump work on this setup?
Tim,
i get the filter, pump regulator, gauge, carbs, but I cannot read what is printed in the box just after the carbs. Can you reply with this.
i did not see the rule against cool cans. i will take a look
where do you get a cool can?

72 was the only year for the Pankake flywheel. 9 lbs vs 10lbs on the others
fred. i sent you a pm
Fred,
What is the difference in these carbs, vs the sst60 carbs as far as performance goes?
i cant seem to get the sst60 carbs to do better then the original flappers. tried 73, 69, 65 all brown (except the odd carb... all black), 69 was fastest, but still way slower. what are the air jets...
what was the difference in jetting?
yea they were black and wet, the one with the odd carb was blacker. will try 69D. if too white will go back up, if still black will keep going down till brown
1.] is there more than one type of carb, one with two screen vents and one with one screen vent? see attached pic. is there much difference in performance? I may need to buy another one with the two...
what size jets should I start with?
call and ask for doug
