I am just a reader of this interesting thread. I felt that if you don't belive the numbers posted why not just say so. I'm sure that is possible without telling people they are talking bs. Or even...

That was rude and unnecessary. The speed is very good, but not unobtainable.
Used to work with turbines, miss it from time to time...
Beutiful blade, and that is only on the outside, sometimes they have qiute complicated sandwich structure inside aswell.
Phill, Don't know why the OMC engine looks the way it does but one thing is for sure, when Aprilia speaks about low to midrange they probably mean what we consider top RPM for our OMC 56" engines.
I ASSUME that the notch is there as a idle reliefe.
I suggest you use ABS. PLA pretty much s*cks to machine or shape. Been there done that, had to get new part made of ABS. Have no experience from printed nylon parts. don´t expect to use a printed...
Had an air jet coming loose in my OMC 56ci -92, I didn't notice any change in top end but the idle suffered and the boat struggled to get on plane at all. For me those jets made a huge difference.
Thanks for the help Mike!
Spent a couple of hours on the Internet last night and found out that 70673D is the model code for a 70hp from -76. Guess my gut feeling was right. If only I had seen...
just started to take a closer look at the Engine I brought home last week, the label at the bracket says E75ERCIM wich makes it an 75hp from -81.
Is there a way to make sure it is a 75hp? other...
Think I Will be able to sort the rust on the taper with electrolytic rust removal and a buff. Just want to make sure I could use it before I put any work into it. Thanks for the heads up!
OK, I know you are spinning your Engines hard but would you considder a cast crank for some thing not meant to spin higher than 6500 or so RPM? 4-spline 56ci cranks are not easy to find here either:(...
I found a crank from an old 55hp Electric shift engine some time ago. I noticed that it has a portion next to the flywheel taper is machined to three cams will this work in my 56ci block together...
Indeed, VERY nice work!
I have been listening to what all you guys said and got my self a Evinrude 75hp short shaft, Money and motor has not changed hands yet but the seller seems very dependable...
OK, so maybe I have been heading in the wrong direction here...
So the alternative for me would be to try to find a Nitro case and then just solve the Trim parts (which I already have the pump for)...
Oh, sorry Oledawg, forgot to answer your question, good thing you brought it up Hevi Kevi!
Maybe I can blame it on the flue and fever...
The main goal with the project is:
A short shaft engine,...
Thanks for the wise words everybody!
Seems I could go either way then, Think I'll let the price decide. I know at least one place to ask about cutting splines. I'll check with my personal outboard...
I'm working on a project that involves a 56ci OMC, a 15" mid and a V4 gear case. the engine will most likely be something like 16" because I need an adapter plate between the mid and gear case. The...
I have done one on my omc 56, the one i did had no lwp through (running water pickup on the transom). there is no rocket science involved just a lot of fairing and grinding and fairing and...
Nice work!
Does it work well?
This is the drain hole.
55895
I have a water pickup mounted at the transom.
55892
I'm sure there are many ways to solve this but this is how I did mine.
I run separate water pickup but the drilling and filling part would be the same.
The gear case in the picture will...
Spent the last weekend at my brother's place, the plan was to resurrect the engine that got damaged in the Roslagsloppet last year. We didn't really finish the project, some wine and talking a lot of...
The boat does not have any bad porpoising behavior and the gearcase doesn't seem to move around alot in the video i posted in my last post but I will check it out for sure! I got a feeling that the...
Thanks for your interest in this matter!
Yes Google translate is a very good thing isn't it!
zul8tr don't pay to much attention to how the boat rides in the video, I think the speed is only...
Hi all!
I need help to decide what to do with the running surface on my tunnel hull.
In Sweden we have a racing class called "Classic offshore". The boat model must be at least 25 years old,...

Maybe the changed pump on engines going to such a warm place? the engine has no thermostat so there must be another way of dealing with different water temperatures
OMC part number 377230 (maybe...
pdt: Not that it matters to you anymore but one can actually use a OMC impeller and just enlarge the hole slightly, I have the number in my work shop manual if anyone is interested...
I guess all...
Nice ride pdt!
I had heard about those quwait engines before but thought that it was only a rumor...
I just realized that there is actually one video of the boat from herräng already on YouTube,...
Nice to hear from more people working on these engines!
It worked very well until the Power head came loose during the first half of Roslagsloppet last year. I noticed it to late and two cylinders...
shenders:
I will have to make you disapointed, we have 8" of snow and roughly the same amount of ice on the lake:D
In about two month the snow and ice is hopefully gone and testing season begins....
Thanks everybody!!
Mike Schmidt:
I would really love to put a set of Mikuni carbs on that engine! I have already found what I think would be a good candidate for the swap, carbs from Yamaha RD...
shenders:
My German is not the best but I think that the view on page two in the Bing pdf is describing three different ways to connect the pressure pulses from the crank case.
In the Volvo Penta...
Now I understand what is causing the confusion!
My second picture showing the pump is from when I bought the engine and in that pic it is missing the top carb, therefore one of the hoses appear to...
Thanks!
That picture gave me some ideas:)
Belive it or not but the lenght and diameter of the different lines is according to the work shop manual, it states that the routing of the longest one...
Thanks for sharing your ideas guys!
3030:
Is there any chance that you have a picture or sketch showing how the baffels were arranged? To me fuel getting pushed away from the jet seems like a...
last summer finally got my 15' TigerCat back on the water after a long restoration.
I riggged it with one of my somewhat modified Volvo Penta VP700 engines.
The powerhead came loose during the...
"Half out= more speed" is true under the right circumstances. With a prop designed for it you cut your losses and thereby win speed:)
There are several interesting movies on youtube showing surfaced gercases, you will be surprised how high the water "climbs" or get pushed up. Normally you see a lot of spray comming from beneth the...
My -91 56CI bridgeport has them so perhaps it is a question of when they are built...
I'm about to tear down a -92, wonder what's inside that one:)
Joe posted while I was typing, maybe you should get a pic of it...
The facts in my previous post is still valid though:)
If it is for a Archimedes Penta 600 Or rather a Volvo Penta 600 with thru hub ex it will be a 13 spline.
Phill
If a prop is cheap, buy it! If it don't work well sell it! You might loose the shipping cost and then some but chances are you will learn a lot from testing a lot of props. high speed will...
Is his surname perhaps Bäckmo? :)
I have followed your discussion on "angle of attack" on a different forum...
I'm sure not many can produce a good race prop regardless of what tools and knowledge...
I was thinking about the brand.
Yes, try before you buy might not be an option when buying from a shop, I was thinking of second hand one. (Can't afford the new ones either)
Jacking the engine:...
Thank you very much! What a great article. Not many people want to share their trade secrets that way. Hats off...
Hey Phill
Look for a 22" (or even a 24"?) Raker, that might wake that boat up.
Just make sure it's for an inline 3 and V4 gearcase! The big version is far more common than the small diameter...
Thanks guys!
The deal was that I would go through the basics and leave a reasonable offer.
I bought the engine last night, it lacks the coils and the electrical harness, but other than that it...
Just brought home a Evinrude 70hp triple, the model code on the engine block is BE70ELEND wich I guess makes it a -92
I have a workshop manual for a -91 engine, is this OK to use?
Finally things are moving in the right direction, this is a short movie from my first tests of the boat with the engine that started this thread.
Just cruising have a very young passenger...
